Music in this version by https://tiptoptomcat.itch.io but music in subsequent versions will probably be by @DoctorDeathray if she has time to make some before I get too impatient and start making cartridges.

I think it's feature complete. I think it's largely bug free (at least I've patched every bug that I know about!)

There's still some missing dialog, but it'll be updated in a day or three.

If you do play it and notice any major bugs, please let me know.

HEY! If you're interested in doing a beta test of my unfinished Jupiter's Ghost game, shoot me a reply on this and I'll send you a link to the current beta.

It is feature complete, but missing some dialog, has some incorrect dialog, and a couple of cut scenes. Beyond that, I think I've fixed the majority of the bugs.

Most recently, there was a kernel panic bug. I haven't been able to reproduce it in the most recent build, but if you do please let me know how you did it!

And, you know, I'll get my ass in gear and release episode 3 of the podcast, and finish my rebuild of the website so it's easier for collaborators to join and participate.

We're doing shared universe scifi stories come hell or high water.

There's no room for Star Wars in the #JupitersGhost universe, but I need to wire up a star wars style shared universe too. because I want to do some Star Wars-y shorts.

So let's briefly talk about what the #JupitersGhost gameboy game will look like, the game mechanics I have for it already, and the unanswered questions, and then talk about how that would influence my toy plans..

But a #JupitersGhost game?

Well, I know exactly what that would look like as a Gameboy Color and I could probably whip it up in about six weeks.

Less, if I get lucky on graphics.

So #skyPirates and #JupitersGhost get video games.

I have a skypirates game in the works already, but it's big and ambitious and I'm working it up in renPy so I don't know what kind of physical release it'll get (CD-ROM?) I'm going to keep plugging away on it, but it'll probably take a while.

Now that I can see the light on the horizon from this more or less all consuming mad dash to get this project in under the deadline (I didn't mean to do it! I thought the show was going to get canceled because of Helene, and then it didn't, and I wasn't ready!) I can get start thinking about (and maybe even get back to working on) some of the things I dropped to get this one out of the gate.

Like #JupitersGhost (we need some JG action figures, right??) and #expditionSasquatch (I think we'll do a small ES playset sometime in the next two months.)

It feels good to be making things again! It feels important to be making things again! We have so many things to make.

@cobweb sure, yeah. I've heard that.

But I'm a big advocate for living my own values, so if I'm going to suppose a fictional universe in which I am committing alleged crimes, it won't be Minecraft.

Perhaps I'll commit crimes aboard the #JupitersGhost or in Wesnoth.

I'm tempted to put some kind of shell based static site generating photo sharing service on the #JupitersGhost tilde.

I put most of my energy and time in to local music and news and entertainment and publishing becuase that's how we reach people, it's how we build communities, it's how we keep money and power and mindshare in our communities and out of the pockets of Billionaires.

That's why I built #newellijaytelevision and #AnalogRevolution and all the rest of the things I do.

That's why I'll spend three hours tomorrow finishing the setup of the #JupitersGhost tilde server and making accounts for interested parties.

I went back through the #JupitersGhost tag and boosted some older posts and discovered something interesting.

It's been almost *exactly* a year since the last time I tried to revive this project, and in that time my ideas have not evolved significantly.

That says to me that I was on the right track a year ago, and just got overwhelmed with the logistics.

Why should Gene Rodenbury and George Lucas (and Paramount/Oracle/Larry Ellison and Disney) control our vision of the future?

Why should Larry Ellison get to decide which stories are real Star Trek and which ones are illegal?

Why should Bob fucking Iger have any say about who can and can't tell stories about the jedi?

Fuck that.

Culture should belong to communities, and that's why I started #JupitersGhost and the #solarFederation

Jupiter's Ghost is a community drive, creative commons cc-by-sa licensed podcast about the crew of a deep space vessel in the distant future.

It's supported by an in character social network and some other stuff.

Think Star Trek, but actually centering community values and not centering the military. It's the culmination of years of work, and something I've really cared about for a long time.

It's also probably the most popular thing I've ever personally done, with the first episode clocking in well over 30k downloads so far.

I'm kicking #jupitersGhost back off in earnest in several ways.

1) video game due out sometime next year, details to come.

2) hopefully, fully animated Cartoon series due out in late 25 or early 26. Details to come.

3) exploring a live action television program in the #JG universe.

4) doubling down on the original crowd sourced podcast, but with several improvements.

This will be a short thread (and I'm on mobile and only typing in my down time, so it may take a while for it to get finished) about what we have done so far and what we will be doing in the future, and specifically about how you can join the space corps and make a home among the stars.
