Jetzt wollte ich mich mal wieder KDE offen zeigen und habe mir KDE neon installiert. Citrix war eine krasse hürde. Mit Debian und Gnome kein Problem. Ok. Citrix und alles andere nötige funktioniert. Und jetzt scheitert das Projekt am Adressbuch. KDE neon ist nicht in der Lage ein neu angelegtes Adressbuch zu speichern und mit meiner NextCloud zu syncen. Was für ein Dreck.

@Natanox technically, in my case, #KDEneon integrates voluntary submissions of crash reports - it's called "Dr. Konqi". AFAIK, KDEneon is stable-ish Ubuntu PLUS a rolling scheme of KDE things.

Next time, i'd choose #Manjaro, because their scheme is slightly less "rolling release".

I keep hesitating, because everything keeps telling me that it's not-actually #ARCH #Linux, and the #ArchWiki doesn't exactly apply.

Also, it's not #Debian - i grew up on debs! …oof 😅

Mám na stole "hned vedle" korporátní počítač s Windows 10. Připojen na Wifi a VPN do práce.

A pak tady mám soukromej notebook, připojenej na tu samou wifi

KDE neon se mi vzteká, že nemá spojení, nemá internet a prostě nemá.

Windows 10 jede plným proudem.

@Natanox i kept miss-identifying the "proper" components on bug-/issue-/feature trackers (#github / #bugzilla / #Canonical #Ubuntu #launchpad), so i've switched to hash-tagging my fave projects on #SocialMedia, instead.

Instead of getting "my issue" rejected or closed as "irrelevant", because i failed to ID&target the correct COMPONENT, i just toot about it on the #Fediverse, let #Karma sort it out! 😅

I consider this a win-win "shituation"! 🤣

I'd love to have #Firefox tab names in the #KDE / #KDEneon #Plasma per-app #audio volume control - i need to be able to identify them, by more than just the moving peak indicator bar.

edit: that's possible on #Ubuntu / #Gnome, already - it doesn't seem to be a Firefox kinda issue.

Please keep the other current behaviour; when i mute one, all subsequent streams of the same app will be auto-muted as well.

I'm using #SSHFS via fstab, in #KDE / #KDEneon. Every time Dolphin touches the trash:/ on sshfs Dr. Konqi generates a kioworker crash report.

Perhaps i need better mount options?

sshfs#user@host.lan:/path/ /mnt/point/ fuse defaults,noauto,user,cache=no 0 0

edit: adding _netdev doesn't help, and Compression=yes slows things to a USB2 kind of crawl

(It works good enough, so i'm not doing things wrong enough. I won't be setting up samba.)

Kinda hilarious, that i switched from one inconvenience to another, slightly different inconvenience - switching from #Ubuntu to #KDEneon #Linux.

#Firefox is a DEB pkg now, instead of a #snap. But KDEneon requires rebooting the whole box, TWICE, in order to install updates.

So, if i want to update the browser, i MUST reboot (shut down all the VMs, unlock all the crypto storage again [incl VMs], and shiz) - might as well install all the updates.

#KDE fits my needs better than #Gnome, though.

The most recent #Firefox update (139.0.1) on #KDEneon #Linux (that'd be a DEB pkg, afaik) introduced an update to the about:newtab grid - it's got different pin icons now.

But i still can't have a grid greater than 8x4, even though i certainly have the screen real estate to host it!

I'd really rather love to have a grid, larger than only 8x4, #Mozilla! 😉

edit: how about 12x4, or a scaled-to-fit view of whatever THE USER CONFIGURES in their PREFERENCES? 😉

@nikatjef yeah, my example happened on only 1 box, with 3 monitors, running #KDEneon #Linux.

I think, i've heard TechTubers talk about a similar feature in #MacOS and #Windows - it might be reproducible, within the allocated desktop resolution of the remote box.

Of course, the Pareto-80-20 principle prevents this kind of feature to transcend multi-host / multi-OS thresholds.

…well, unless you want to pay plenty for implementation and continued maintenance. 😅

I'm trying out #Rkward on my new #KDEneon install. Is there any way in an #Rmarkdown script to highlight the code blocks/chunks in the script editor? They now have the same background as the rest of the script, and don't really stand out.

The three backticks / graves at the start and end of the code block do have a different background colour, but not the code in between.

And of course, then we need to install and tweak software. #KDEneon comes with #Firefox preinstalled. And although there are reasons to be critical of FF, I still use it and don't see an alternative browser to replace it with.

But, no FF I don't want to
- have sponsored shortcuts, least of all from #Amazon and the like
- save passwords
- save payment info
- login and sync
- have ad measurement

Plus, it would be nice to have 'data collection and use' opt-in, instead of all the boxes pre-ticked.
