I recently decided to make a point of trying #KDrama comedy Having just dropped #GausElectronics after 3/12 and 0 laughs, I see that of the 93 #KDramas I've scored at least 8/10 FOUR had comedy as 1st or 2nd genre tag.
Of the 127 I've dropped, 12 did. It's no laughing matter.
After writing about Goong for my "Old OSTs" piece, it was fun hearing this song used in #KDrama #LoveToHateYou A reminder that even #KDramas I now find very problematic and would likely drop still provide context and reference points nearly 20 years after they aired

I started watching OH MY GHOST CLIENTS for Cha Hak-yeon and it is turning out to be a good decision, as this is a great #kdrama to watch Cha Hak-yeon in.
It’s also different from roles I’ve seen him in before. He’s usually been very stoic and serious but his character in this drama is energetic and charming.
6.75/10 for #KDrama "Sh**ting Stars" - 6 points earned for the first 10 episodes, 0.75 points earned for the last 6.
It's a bad sign when a comedy romance leaves one bored and flat after inducing seething rage, but what's really sad is that (a) this one STARTED so well and (b) I shoulda know better having seen this play out in #KDramas more often than I've seen Subway in KDramas. Gah!
Into ep 10 of #KDrama "Shooting Stars" and although it's so far one of the funniest #KDrama comedies I've ever watched, I'll still drop it in a heartbeat if it goes down the "Callous Mum gets free pass because biology"(🤮 ) route so beloved of 20 gazillion #KDramas before it. That trope is ALWAYS an instadrop for me.
Given partner's obvious interest in several #kdramas that I had initially thought he would like but were too romancey, I am taking a massive leap and starting him on #TaleOfTheNineTailed. I feel this one is a major risk as it is indeed romance heavy. However, I have always thought that he would like the rest of the story. For extra excitement, I am starting it while we are still watching #Healer. This will either end really well or really badly.
@dnkboston Yes, there are some good, shorter #KDrama - One Day Off a great example too. Hopefully "shorter" #KDramas will actually BE shorter - I like the #JDrama mode which often sees opening and closing eps both around 60 minutes and the intervening 8-9 around 45 each.
@ronsboy67 This was part of why I loved #TheBequeathed. It was 6 episodes, and something like an average of 45 minutes per episode. Didn't waste any time, and did exactly what was needed.
Also really liked #SheKnowsEverything. 4 episodes, and a snappy pace that made sense. #kdramas

In #kdramas from a few years ago, knives are often blurred. I thought maybe these were from broadcast TV where the blade may have been censored to keep it on TV, but in this one, blades are blurred but guns are sharp as can be. What is up with that? Searched on it and some say it’s because you can get a knife in Korea, but not a gun. 🤷

Watching #mrSunshine reminds me that the old #Kdramas, and some of the #cdramas would have people freeze at the end of the episode.
I don't know if it comes from theater, or if they wanted to freeze-frame, but lacking the technology they told the people to just stop moving.
There is the romance trope where the couple are still and staring at each other while the others blur around them, and there is her close-up, his close-up, their two-shot. Music rises. They freeze.
So weird and iconic.

I plugged Sungkyunkwan too, it was fun. I watched #CityHunter way back in 2013 as one of my early #KDramas and couldn't help giggling every time "City Hunter" was said, with the sibiliant "C" pronounced as "Sh" - I'm MUCH more mature now 😂
Have you seen Castle in the Time, her #CDrama? It wasn't awful, but I couldn't finish it because the dubbing WAS awful. a #KDrama version with her own voice would have been worth a watch imo
Shame on the Joongang Daily for not pushing back on Hwang's framing. She's claiming that she "earned" all of the money she embezzled from her agency (for crypto!), thus, no harm, no foul. BS. She put her funds into a company to limit tax liability. Fine, that's legal, but those funds aren't in some kind of liminal existence that are hers when she wants to spend them, but a corporation's when she doesn't want to be taxed. Right out of a #kdrama she might star in. #kdramas
