Flash games ruled
In conclusion… this is a huge budget, historical epic. It looks amazing and has tons of extras and production design.
I think the biggest flaw is the need to have the plot hit beats that easily resonate with a general audience. Orlando Bloom’s main character isn’t terrible, but he’s set up as a paragon to contrast against everyone else. And yes everyone else are pretty interesting in their various ways… but Orlando’s ‘perfect knight’ does feel artificial in an otherwise immaculately realised world.
Anyway, recommended if you can find the Director’s Cut. They don’t make them like this very often these days.
I’m back finishing ‘Kingdom Of Heaven’ (Director’s Cut).
There’s some interesting portrayals of seige warfare.
I don’t know how realistic it is, but it feels more grounded than say LotR.
Quote of the day, 2 October: St. Thérèse
Glorious Guardian of my soul,
You who shine in God’s beautiful Heaven
As a sweet and pure flame
Near the Eternal’s throne,
You come down to earth for me,
And enlightening me with your splendor,
Fair Angel, you become my Brother,
My Friend, my Consoler!…
Knowing my great weakness,
You lead me by the hand,
And I see you tenderly
Remove the stone from my path.
Your sweet voice is always inviting me
To look only at Heaven.
The more you see me humble and little,
The more your face is radiant.
O you! who travel through space
More swiftly than lightning,
I beg you, fly in my place.
Close to those who are dear to me.
With your wing dry their tears.
Sing how good Jesus is.
Sing that suffering has its charms,
And softly, whisper my name….
During my short life I want
To save my fellow sinners.
O Fair Angel of the Homeland,
Give me holy fervor.
I have nothing but my sacrifices
And my austere poverty.
With your celestial delights,
Offer them to the Trinity.
For you the Kingdom and the Glory,
The Riches of the King of kings.
For me the ciborium’s humble Host.
For me the Cross’s treasure.
With the Cross, with the Host,
With your celestial aid,
In peace I await the other life,
The joys that will last forever.

On the topic of Ridley Scott tho…
Blade Runner, Alien, Gladiator, The Martian …
Then personally I’d throw in Kingdom Of Heaven (Director’s Cut).
Ok, I’m putting the 1187 siege of Jerusalem on hold because it’s a school night.
Ok, does anyone want anything from the candy bar? Popcorn?
For a 2005 film, I can’t really spot the special effects.
I assume some of the crowds and cityscapes are drawn in. It’s impressive.
The Templars certainly are the bad guys in this.
My brain is struggling to separate this from the Assassin’s Creed canon.
Kingdom of Heaven is up there in terms of “Films most improved by their Director’s Cut”.
“I once fought two days with an arrow through my testicle.”
A thing Liam Neeson’s character says in this movie.
This film is set in 1184 and everyone is fighting and dying over Jerusalem and the surrounding lands.
Humankind … sigh.
This film has quite the cast.
Why not put on the 3 and a quarter hour director’s cut of Kingdom Of Heaven whilst I do other things this evening?
The need to repent is highlighted. It's not about a lack of love for God, but about acknowledging our sinful nature and turning back to Him. John the Baptist and Jesus both started their ministries with a call to repentance. #repent #TenCommandments #kingdomofheaven #sinful #ministry

Jesus said to become like children to enter the kingdom of heaven. What does it mean to humble oneself like a child? It would be better to be drowned than to cause one of these little ones to sin. #ChristianPerspective #KingdomOfHeaven #BibleStudy
