Damn, that's sad. And them going "yea but Edge Canary now supports extensions, you don't need kiwi anymore" is even more of a fuck.

Something weird is going on with #Kiwibrowser
Someone reported that it was vulnerable to CVE-2023-4863 because Kiwi had not been updated to the latest version of Chromium.
However, that issue thread has since been deleted. Sadly, it's contents have not been archived.
As far as I am aware, the only people who could have deleted the issue thread were the Kiwi maintainer(s) - even the OP lacks that power.
I understand that is a very serious accusation, and that there currently is very little evidence (the only record of the original threads is in random people's memories and screenshots), and I am jumping to conclusions, but this is very worrying.

Also tested browsers again and discovered that #Chromium on desktop and #Syncthing does work well and is the fastest in my totally not scientific tests.
On #Android I found #KiwiBrowser works best for me. No sync yet although will try Syncthing with the desktops and mobile soon. As long as I only pull bookmarks it should work, right :thinkerguns:
ampxdirect.com doesn't resolve and isn't listed in any major tracker/ad lists.
The WHOIS data on ampxdirect claims it is owned by adMarketplace. A quick quack leads me to their website and Wikipedia
Fun but unrelated fact: This is one of the domains #kiwibrowser disables content blockers on (https://github.com/kiwibrowser/src/blob/master/extensions/renderer/extension_injection_host.cc#L109)
Maybe I have ranted about this before, but #kiwibrowser
- might not be officially supported by uBo (though I heard that but can't find any source to verify it)
- seems to have it's own content blocker which is problematic
- disables content blocking extensions on a long list of sites (and doesn't validate the sites, so extensions could be disabled on malicious websites)
- allegedly was collecting data it shouldn't a little while ago
- isn't updated that often
