Finished the Yi Sun-sin trilogy #kmovie(s), all over 2 hours long. Very good overall, The Admiral: Roaring Currents was the best of the three (classic, best script), then I liked Hansan and then Noryang. The battles were the main focus and intense throughout. Admiral Yi Sun-sin was a brilliant strategist.
@jcurries The Admiral: Roaring Currents is definitely a classic, covering the Battle of Myeongryang. The prequel Hansan: Rising Dragon came out in 2022, the Battle of Hansando. The sequel Noryang: Deadly Sea was released 2023. I'm watching the trilogy in historical order, so the battle at Noryang Strait is next. Just based on the first two movies, this one should be good as well.

Epic historical #kMovie The Admiral: Roaring Currents (2014), the first released in the Yi Sun-sin war trilogy (at the time, the most watched and highest-grossing domestic film of all time in South Korea, currently No. 2 still). Watched the prequel Hansan: Rising Dragon (2022) yesterday.

Re-watching #kMovie Uprising was even better the second time around and I upgraded my ranking to 9/10. Kang Dong Won was so good that you forget it's him and only see his character Cheon Yeong. There's a memorable group sword fight on the beach in the fog, excellent scene and camerawork. There's another scene that stood out the most to me, but it's a spoiler.
I'm going to watch the #kMovie Uprising (2024, Joseon #saguek) again, which I liked. I thought the ML looked familiar at the time but couldn't place him. And, DUH, it's Kang Dong Won (ML Tempest) looking ragged in long hair and a beard wielding a sword (still handsome, Netflix lists him as Gang Dong Won, again duh). It also stars Jin Seon Kyu, another favorite actor.
I'm hooked. The first three episodes of #kDrama Tempest were very intriguing, a spy thriller that involves SKorea, NKorea, and the U.S. Strong politically driven female characters. I enjoyed actor Kang Dong Won (ML) in the #kMovie Illang: The Wolf Brigade (2018), very memorable persona and face. In one scene here, we see he has a lovely smile to go with that serious face. #Tempest
After a detour through a #kDrama #TheWinningTry 3 #Chihayafuru #jMovie , and a #kMovie #UntangledLove it's back to #cDrama #SunshineByMySide In a rare twist for me, I'm watching a remake before the original. It will be interesting to see how #twDrama #MyDearBoy compares when I try it after this. The fact that its total runtime is around two hours shorter is already a plus, sight unseen
TFW you're into the final 10 minutes of a #kMovie and someone says "you have to go on that blind date tomorrow" and you think to yourself "I believe that's a nod to this awesome film" 😀
