A Vikkel braid is a decorative horizontal braid in your knitting. When working in the round, you have to take some steps to make it as jogless as possible 😃

It has been a while since I posted an update on my bubble stitch La Rentrée sweater. I’ve finished the first sleeve, and started the second. I may also redo the rolled border on the body, I think I’d like it a couple of rounds deeper as in the sleeves 😃

A couple of years ago, I made a tutorial on working slip stitch as edge treatment. I used it to neaten up the edges, and to add a bit of a contrasting color.

Grabbing a bite and a cup of tea before making the pictures for the upcoming post on creating a Vikkel braid in the round. Stay tuned for its release next week! 😃

In today's new tutorial, I show you how to go about removing an applied border. I'm still thinking about using it for the big round shawl project, though 😆

The tubular bind-off creates a rounded edge of your project, and is very stretchy. This makes it a very good bind-off for bottom-up socks. It's a tad time-consuming to work. Very much worth it, though! 😃

Today I have for you the Ribbed Heart Stitch! It’s a versatile stitch pattern that can be used in any place you'd used regular ribbing. However, because it's so pretty, it's lovely as all-over patterning 😃

Double increases aren’t as commonly used as basic single increases. Nevertheless, they absolutely have their place in the knitter’s toolkit. In this tutorial, I show you how to work the increase that consists of working (k1, yo, k1) all in the same stitch 😃

Small Shale is the smallest variation of the Old Shale stitch pattern, which is a traditional Shetland stitch pattern. Sets of decreases are alternated with sets of yarn over increases, creating a lovely wavy edge of both the bottom and top of the fabric 😃 lavisch.com/site/stitch-patter

Introducing Villa Borghese: A Stroll Through Italian Gardens

I'm excited to introduce my newest colourway: Villa Borghese! Inspired by the lush, historic gardens in the heart of Rome, this blend of soft greens, sunlit golds, and earthy browns captures the charm of wandering shaded paths and admiring centuries-old sculptures.

Dyeing this colourway felt like painting a memory of warm, late-afternoon walks — the kind where time slows down, and you notice every dapple of sunlight and every rustling leaf. The result is a yarn that feels organic yet elegant, perfect for projects that celebrate nature’s subtleties.

I've added Villa Borghese to the shop, and I can't wait to see what you'll create with it. If you make something special, don't forget to tag me — I’d love to share your work!

Let me know what you think. Would you knit a shawl reminiscent of garden walks or a cosy pair of socks for quiet moments at home?

I'm also still working on my bubble stitch La Rentrée sweater. It's a good thing I found some more of this yarn in London, otherwise it would have been very tight 😃

The bunny ears back decrease, is a symmetrical way of decreasing 3 stitches to only 2, called this way, because the result somewhat looks like 2 bunny ears “hugging” the remaining 2 stitches. With this version, the “ears” point inwards 😃

I have a new design on the needles for my youngest—who isn’t so young anymore. Time flies, and the kids grow up so fast!

It’s a long-sleeved sweater with an interesting detail on the collar, cuffs, and ribbing. I’m knitting it in #EasyCare merino wool by @Mayflower, in the color Powder 🩷 Perfect for the coming spring.

The knitting pattern will be available on www.woolwolfknits.com later this spring!
