He was ejected from his monastery because he was thought to have got one of the local girls pregnant. However, he was later allowed to return to live in the monastery. When Marinos died, the other monks were surprised to discover that he had a vagina rather than a penis.

So… ultraconservative religious and right-wing organizations recently launched a campaign against marriage equality.

… I hope no one is surprised.

Let this be a reminder, for those sections of the "LGBTI+" movement who happily threw under the bus trans and queer people, that continue discarding sex workers, that pushed away black people, migrants, "crazy ones", or generally just anyone who didn't quite fit the images pushed in the name of "respectability" and the doomed attempt to assimilate into the very system that has always actively attempted to mow down any "deviation" from its parameters.
Let this be a reminder, that those "respectable LGBT" are just as deviant in its eyes as those "others" they tried to cast away.

Because intersectionality is not just an empty word. Because every life matters, has always mattered.
And because no one is free until everyone is.

(PS: this campaign really is just *begging* for reappropriation. I mean, seriously, ‘Children rights > Adult desires’..? Heritage Foundation, Focus on the Family, FRC and a host of other groups just launched a broadside campaign against marriage equality, saying that Obergefell is, wait for it ... "harmful to children."

Launched on Jan 28, the campaign is "dedicated to defending every child’s natural right to their mother and father in law, culture, and policy.”

The effort “centers the true victims — children deprived of their mother or father — rather than adults who mistake unfulfilled wants for harm"

And, for those who like dog whistles (sorry Megyn Kelly), we're quickly reaching the "better in an orphanage than with some queers" part of the fascism.

Adoption and foster care are for children. They are the clients, not adults.
Whenever possible children should be placed with a married mother and father, so they can receive the benefits that come from a male and female parent. If a heterosexual married couple is not available, social workers must make a decision based on the child's best interest.

Like all fascisms, the campaign depends on an imagined world where mothers are loving (and nurturing), fathers strong but fair, with everyone's emotional and material needs met.

But rather than confront complicated reality, they just blame queers for ruining it for the rest of them.

either with lived experience of, or of experience of working
with conversion practice survivors. This opportunity can be
paid or on a volunteer basis.
Due to the potentially distressing nature of the topic, please

Role specification:
- Co-facilitating two workshops for creative outlets with
participants.
- Attending at least 4 meetings across an 18 month period.
- Within these meetings you will play a part in shaping the
research, and materials with our largely LGBTQ+ research team.

Location :
- Predominantly online
- 1/2 workshops will be in person, with travel reimbursed and a venue decided based on participant convenience.
- 2nd workshop will be online.

This research study aims to centre the voices of conversion
practice and change effort survivors, this research is queer, trans-led, survivor-led and trauma-informed.
