That could be something that could make searching the enshittified web bareable again, but then they limit it to 5 websites you can block. Why?!?!
I want to block *all* websites that track me, have bad cookie banners (no one-click denial), have paywalls, contain AI, contain propaganda etc.
I'm aware that that means blocking most of the internet and it takes a long time to add all pages to the blocklist, but then you could easily share the blocklist with others or just import the blocklist from uBlock origin.
5 blocks doesn't even begin to block all GAFAM urls. Get outa here!
Best marketing strategy for anything right now: Focus on not adding AI to your product and watch the competitors drive all their customers to you.

I try not to judge people when they use AI, because otherwise I wouldn't stop judging people all day, but can you at least not give the ecocide machine a term of endearment!

The only reason people are still using Firefox in large numbers is the same reason why most people are still using Chrome: finding a better alternative is (some) work.
I'm vegan and I don't go to the butcher to buy my vegan meat. I don't want to go to the slop company to buy my ecocide-free browsing experience either.
Just give the community an opt-out opportunity for the evil direction you're going.

An LLM can't do anything but destroy the ecosystem and your brain, therefore an LLM must never be used.
I don't believe that intelligence is something, that can be measured.
But I do see some kind of spectrum that goes from reading banned books to using AI to summarize a tweet.

If you want to write a prompt to generate a picture, just post alt text with no picture.
We all have intelligence in our brain - if your prompt is good we can create the picture in our mind. Even if every human reads your prompt and generates their own picture powered by calories from mostly non-vegan food, that's less wasteful than what you are doing.

FYI this includes all AI generated text and media as well as screenshots and other copies of AI generated stuff.
Using AI to generate alt text is okay if you can't write it yourself ("can't" doesn't mean "too busy" or "don't care"), but please note it somewhere.
We've had this in the rules for a long time, but unfortunately Mastodon has no feature to inform users about rule changes.
It's a good idea to reread the rules from time to time, but of course nobody will have their account deleted for a non-obvious rule they didn't read (except new users appearing to be bots).
