Balatonföldvár, 1964. August is peak summer in Hungary - known as 'cucumber season' because nothing much happens except the cucumbers grow. People leave the cities and head to Lake Balaton for summer fun: beer, lángos (deep fried flat bread), swimming - and most importantly of all for young people - holiday romances. In a week or two it is back to school and work. Ugh!
