One day left. If you haven’t already voted, should my choice of foreign language favor fun over utility? Or the other way around?

I have studied four different (non-English) languages at various points but I never got proficient at any. Some are more fun and some are more useful. I’d really like to lean into one. Should I favor the fun or the useful? #LanguageStudy #ForeignLanguage #Language

If you are intermediate in Spanish, I strongly recommend listening to this guy's Spanish. He enunciates well. He repeats himself. This is great for learners. I understand *most* of what he says.

I love watching the French broadcasts of hockey games. 🏒 🇫🇷
I don't speak French. I have always loved the sound of the language. I was attempting to learn a bit off Duolingo, but because ADHD, I tapered off.

I want to pick up a bit of the language again. Does anyone out there have some recommendations for French language resources?

Meet Lila, an incredible 8-year-old who just completed the Hebrew 1 Workbook & has already mastered Hebrew print letters! Now, she’s diving into the Hebrew 2 Workbook with so much joy and determination—it’s inspiring

Her mom, Daniela, has truly given her daughter a priceless gift: the opportunity to learn Hebrew & connect with its beauty. Daniela, thank you for including me in this meaningful journey. Your dedication as a parent is remarkable, & Lila’s bright smile in these pictures reflects not only her own joy but yours as well

Lila, we are all so proud of you! Your love for learning lights up every page of those workbooks, and it’s a joy to witness

To everyone in our community—moments like these remind us of the power of language to bring people together. If you or your loved ones are learning Hebrew, I’d love to see your stories and pictures, too. Let’s celebrate every step of the journey together!

🌟Kol Hakavod, Lila & Daniela! 🌟

A heartwarming moment shared by a parent: their daughter practicing Hebrew cursive letters in bed using my Hebrew 2 Workbook. It’s a beautiful reminder of how learning Hebrew can connect generations, and I’m so humbled that my resources play a part in this journey.

My books are designed for learners of all ages, but moments like this truly capture the gift of passing Hebrew to the next generation.

So I'm finally doing almost daily journalling, a habit I've wanted to do for ages - all because of my #TeReoMāori study! I can put together simple sentences in all tenses, so my writing practise is translating those short diary entries into Te Reo. I use Te Aka for new vocabulary and a couple sources to help with grammar I'm not sure about.
I then read several of them aloud, to practise pronounciation but also just getting used to the language.

When you realise the 1000 most frequent word list in Te Reo Māori is acually 980 words:

Teachers, we're curious: do you ever get your students to do introductory language study on Duolingo or similar apps as extension activities when they are learning about other regions? What grades or ages, what apps, what languages?

I wrote a lot of words I learnt reading this book (like for now 18 pages/9 sheets), I have to organise them for learning but I feel everything is only accessible through a Paywall now, are there still good apps? I never did paper cards or such, open to it but unsure how to proceed? (level estimated A2/B1, self learning)

Tu B'Av just ended, so let's talk about what happens when a marriage ends in Hebrew.

In plural, we say /g-roo-'sheem/ (stress on the last syllable), meaning *we are divorced*, *they are divorced*, or *you (plural) are divorced*.

But here's the twist:

When we stress the *next* syllable and say /g-'roo-sheem/, it means something completely different!

It's a colloquial way to say something is worth pennies, or as we say in Israel, it costs /g-'roo-sheem/ — next to nothing, super cheap, or worthless.

The word /g-'roosh/ refers to an old, unused currency, and /g-'roo-sheem/ is its plural, now used as slang for pennies.

Make sure to learn Hebrew with my phonetic system, where the ' sign shows you exactly where to place the stress.

That way, you'll always pronounce the right meaning, the right word, and sound like a true local!
