It's beautiful when we see cubs, whether lion or other animal. But we tend to stay with that precious scene without seeing beyond it when nature becomes relentless.
This scene was one of those moments.... A lion cub lay dead, and her brother was lying on top of her protecting her. Very small, really, they were very very small. The mother, for whatever reason (from attacks by other predators, to abandonment), had left her cubs behind. Now, the future of these was to wait for a death by starvation (at this sight, one was already dead, and the other cub showed clear signs of malnutrition and dehydration), or because other predators ate them, which seems very likely, because in the area there were hyenas that were getting closer and closer to these little ones.
A scene that was difficult to watch, a case in which we should not intervene, as we should be mere spectators (except in cases of endangered animals). Sometimes the camera acts as a filter for the one behind and makes you evade what you are seeing, but remembering it now is still difficult.
Nature has everything, its precious parts, and its cruel parts.
