Our State Archivist handed me an original copy of the excerpts of the first Continental Congress. 1774. Tears. I was overcome! Also, reaffirmed in my choice of public service librarian because clearly I would get *zero* work done in the archives. #nerd #librarylife #booksky 📚💙 📚🩵

Now shipping! Speaking directly to library workers, this book demonstrates the power and fulfillment that comes from actively participating in shaping both the conditions under which they labor and the conditions that govern the library itself. alastore.ala.org/oryrlib

Honest question does the Museum of Fine Arts pay better than the Boston Public Library?? Cause I keep getting questions on where the art exhibits are, and the architectures instead of questions about the library and its services... just wondering if I chose the wrong place....

Or does the MFA have a computer lab for my useful skills...?

Library Rant for the Day: I want the library to be that a library, not a tourist attraction, not an attraction that are services that the city sub contracts out, not a destination to look at art. We are a library for research, reading, watching, streaming, book clubs, etc, but war not the tourist office we are not place to eat. Make the library serve its purpose!

In our #library we ask the important questions. Next up do you pronounce it scone (to rhyme with bone) or scone (to rhyme with gone). Personally I go for the former as if you take the s at the start away you have cone. #librarylife #libraries

Ephemera of A210, my temporary office at UVic's McPherson library
#librarylife #onlyincanada

Before you ask: no, I don't have a book cart (yet)

The image shows a close-up of a hand holding a yellow pencil. The pencil has the text "Be A Part of It — Be a Juror!" printed in black on its body. The hand is gripping the pencil with the thumb and index finger, and the pencil is positioned diagonally across the image. In the background, there is a desk with a keyboard and a laptop, suggesting an office or study environment. The desk is black, and the keyboard is also black with white lettering. The laptop has a visible sticker on its lid. The hand appears to be resting on a gray fabric surface, possibly a chair or couch. The pencil's eraser is visible at the bottom, and the wood of the pencil is exposed at the tip.The image shows a close-up view of a wooden surface, likely part of a piece of furniture, such as a table or a desk. The wood has a light, natural color with visible grain patterns, including a prominent knot in the center. The grain lines are smooth and flowing, with a subtle sheen indicating a polished finish. The edge of the wood is cut at a right angle, revealing a clean, sharp line. The background features a patterned carpet with a mix of gray and beige tones, and a portion of a black chair is visible, suggesting an indoor setting. The focus is on the texture and details of the wood, highlighting its natural beauty and craftsmanship. The image shows a brown envelope lying on a flat surface. The envelope is secured with a piece of clear tape at the top and has a metal fastener on the left side. Handwritten text is visible on the envelope. The name "LAMBERT HELLER" is written at the top, followed by the numbers "#1517" and "A210" on the right side. At the bottom, the text "RETURNS TO MATT" is written. The envelope appears to be slightly crumpled, and the handwriting is in blue ink.The image shows a close-up of a double electrical outlet mounted on a metallic wall plate. The outlets are white and have the standard two-pronged design with a grounding hole at the bottom. The top outlet is labeled "F16" on a white sticker. The metallic plate is brushed stainless steel, reflecting some light and showing a few minor scratches. The brand "Hubbell" is embossed on the bottom outlet. The wall behind the outlet is a light color, possibly beige or off-white. The outlets are in good condition, with no visible damage or wear.

The complete works of #photo.artist Joachim Schmid are now represented in the #artistbook #collection of @bsbmuenchen. Why am I so happy about it - and why is it an exception?

▶️ Finally a new post on the #artistsbooks blog ‼️

You can see part of a photograph. In the end, only feet and the lower part of a woman's skirt can be seen. It is a page from the book “Bilder von der Straße” by Joachim Schmid (No74 - Barcelona - April 1990) (c) J.Schmid

I mean, that catalographic database is supposed to say it has around 125.000 records.

Not 0.

And I would really like to know why it is so.

Yeah, so... in this particular record, the F means "fiction" and "You" is an abbreviation of the author's last name. This is how it's tagged on the shelf. Thanks for the entertainment, though.

"Yesterday, using my account, I attempted to place a book on hold for my book club. Today, when I opened my account to check the status of my hold, I received a shocking and obscene message. I am not sure if this was targeted at me or if it was just a strange coincidence, but either way, you may want to rethink your shelf numbering system.

Thank you"

The screenshot of the hold pick-up notification shows a shelf number of "F YOU".
