My kids laugh because I'm always picking up stuff that's sitting on the sidewalks in my 'hood. My choices depend on who lives in the house that the stuff is in front of. (Grammar!) This morning I picked up a Bluetooth speaker, didn't know what it was until I got home. Connected to my Mac Mini via BT and here I am enjoying Steely Dan's Peg. It's not perfect but at least I'll be able to edit audio now. Yes, the Mini has a speaker so now I have to choose the best.

I like "the life of Brain", except I forgot it has a scene that reinforce the "good colonizer" lie.
The clear goal of the scene is to make fun of the resistance movement.
While I think some of the jokes in that scene are on point (namely the petty feuds between movements of really similar names... that one hits hard) the general vibe isn't great.
Time for another 'I'm an idiot' story. Nice-ish day, decided to drain my above ground pool. The last time I was in, I took the inner plug out, thinking I could just attach the hose outside when ready. Nope. Water rushed out, the spigot needed the hose attachment thingy anyway and my hands froze. The solution? Go back in the pool to put the inner plug in. Done. Frozen but done. In retail, they talk about causes of shrink. I don't remember them mentioning cold water....
In other news, my 50 odd year old poem was selected as a finalist in the RedNote 'Around the World in One Day' contest. It may be insignificant to anyone who doesn't know RedNote but I think the fact that they offered me air flight tickets and accommodation is pretty significant. They asked me to enter and somehow they thought one of my poems was 1 of 6 finalists. Kind of exciting for this old guy.
I know self-medication isn't good but damn, after a dismal day of coughing and sneezing, a beer changes the mood. Think rose-coloured glasses.
Things I learned today:
1. 14 years into my Honda's life, I learned that the key fob has a tiny red light that flashes when I push a button.
2. The Kirkland quinoa is now a product of Bolivia, not the U.S. (Yay!)
3. The curb at one corner near me isn't gradual, it's basically 90 degrees. That stumped me for a while I realized it was to keep large trucks off the street.
4. You can catch a cold without being in contact with a person who visibly has one.

The ladder will also make a scaffold so it should make trimming the apple tree easier. The Workmate is in perfect condition, too. The old ones were better than anything they make now.
