In 1842, #Lindheimer wrote to #Botanist George #Engelmann:

"I am sending 180 #Plants collected in the #Spring of 1840...
Send me the #Names soon so that I don't have to keep creating #Nicknames, especially for the #Grasses; for instance, Narrow #Ear, #Panicle Ear, Long Ear, Twin Ear..."

Lindheimer discovered several hundred new #Plant #Species in Texas.
He is remembered in many plant #Names.

The Oenothera lindheimeri is a species of
Oenothera.  It is commonly known as Lindheimer's beeblossom, white gaura, pink gaura, Lindheimer's clockweed, and Indian feather.

Native to southern Louisiana and Texas.
The specific
epithet is after Ferdinand Jacob Lindheimer, the German-born botanist who
