Week of final exams. They end tomorrow. By now, students should be hunkering down, finishing up tests, papers, projects, etc. Some however cut it close. Just got a virtual reference query for a pretty complex research question. Someone will be burning midnight oil. Yea, I got them the help they needed now.
Life’s Too Short to Remove USB Safely.
We live on the edge. What’s the riskiest tech move you’ve ever pulled?

I was dropping my kids off to the school bus this morning, when I saw one of the neighbors cars drive by - the kids were in the back seat eating bowls of cereal 😂
@GlasWolf I know people use the colour to look at illustrated books and graphic novels, etc. I really need an e-reader with a dyslexic-friendly fonts that I can just make huge. :ablobcateyesflip: Haha. Hope the model I've chosen is basic enough! Is it really waterproof?! Have you ever tested this claim? #LivingDangerously
Have started my Friday night wine before finishing typing up my day's notes.

It kind of bothers me that my wireless mouse and headphones don't warn me about low battery reserves until they're below 15%.

I’ve a break between contracts and I’m making the most of it by… filling in pension adviser forms, writing Christmas cards and overseeing the snagging work on my house. I know how to live! #LivingDangerously
What usually happens is that a new contract appears before I’ve got round to all the actual interesting stuff that I really want to do - because force myself to catch up on everything I’ve been neglecting first. #MissedOpportunities
I've got a feeling I'm about to kill my #RaspberryPi that feeds #ADSB data to a bunch of tracking/aggregating websites 😅 Trying to upgrade from Buster to Bullseye...
And I'm doing it remotely. The Pi is physically four hours away from me. So if I screw this up, it's not going to get fixed for weeks or months until I am there in person and can install a new SD card.
Left my bike locked to a sheffield stand near the Gate Theatre for 4 nights and it was still there when I got back - phew! #Blessed #LivingDangerously
@alfagrl Viking Blue. Zo blijkt het kaasje te heten. Nooit van gehoord, dus het zal mij benieuwen... 😉

I'm cutting it fine this week - one of missus' birthday presents is only due to arrive Thursday. It's her birthday Friday. To be fair, I was mostly out of action with covid for a week and she didn't tell me what she wanted until after.
I am hoping the parcel doesn't go into the black hole that is the Welshpool sorting office.

@effinbirds we need a "feel free to include me in this weird shit" too :D #LivingDangerously
Dyeing 2 skeins of yarn to finish a sweater I’ve already knitted 2/3 of. No, I didn’t measure the dyestocks. No, I didn’t write down a recipe. Just discovered I forgot to save yarn from the shoulder tops to blend in the new yarn for sleeves. Oops. #LivingDangerously #YarnDyeing #Knitting
I had a rare old day yesterday.
I'd impulsively said yes to a day out with someone I don't know very well, I'd only met them a few times.
Luckily there was only a day for me to angst about everything before it happened.
We went up to Manchester by train to see an aboriginal art exhibition which we enjoyed. Then for lunch into a new fangled place where you don't talk to a human but order through a QR code. I was dreading it but it went surprisingly well.
My friend was very easy to spend time with.
The only thing is, we both have a terrible sense of direction.
My university puts so much crap "security" software on university-owned computers that I legit just asked myself, "I have a Teams meeting in 30 min. Am I sure I have time to reboot my laptop??"
I'm giving it a shot. #LivingDangerously
