Call me naive, but even after the mass #pardons, I didn’t expect to see January 6 #rioters WORKING IN THE #JUSTICE DEPARTMENT. Yet here we are. Our tax dollars are paying the salary of #JaredWise, who called for violence against police. He’s now an adviser to #EdMartin (the “no #MAGA left behind” guy)!

Many of you have asked if it’s legal for the #President to deploy the #NationalGuard to U.S. #cities. It depends on the facts and circumstances. A #Trump-appointed #judge in #Oregon just blocked the deployment of #troops to #Portland. The decision highlights the limits of the President’s power and could be influential in limiting the use of the #Guard in #Chicago and elsewhere.

Two #federaljudges have now disqualified Trump’s picks for #USAttorney jobs (in #Nevada and #NewJersey). Both courts found that Trump’s attempt to do an end-run around #Senate confirmation was illegal. If these rulings stick, other unqualified #partisan #extremists appointed by #Trump around the country — including the #Comey #prosecutor — could also lose their posts.

“The Trump administration-led justice department planned to send armed US marshals to deliver a letter warning a career pardon attorney about testifying to Congress after she says she was fired over a case involving the actor Mel Gibson, her lawyer said in a letter seen by Reuters on Monday.
“This highly unusual step of directing armed law enforcement officers to the home of a former Department of Justice employee who has engaged in no misconduct, let alone criminal conduct, simply to deliver a letter, is both unprecedented and completely inappropriate,” Michael Bromwich, a lawyer representing the fired pardon attorney Liz Oyer, wrote to the justice department.
The marshals were called off on Friday only after Oyer acknowledged having received the letter by email, Bromwich wrote.”
