A film photo of collection of lobster boats on their moorings in a small harbor between a small island and a peninsula on the mainland. The photo was taken in landscape orientation and the composition is relatively simple and minimalistic. The sky is pale and hazy and the color and light throughout is subdued. The island is heavily forested with spruce and pine trees and its east side (left in the photo) is low and quickly slopes up to higher ground. The right side of the island is outside of the frame. There are 7 lobster boats of various sizes and colors tied off to moorings. Their bows are pointed towards the point from which the photo was taken

Despite being somewhat simple, this photo has always captured the feeling of summer on the coast of Maine for me. While the color tones of film aren’t always true to reality, it has a way of capturing the soul of a place that digital can’t compare to.
