Sudbury long-term care home still can't admit new residents, six months after provincial order issued
Only open for a year, the nursing home in the south end of the northern Ontario city hasn't been able to move in new residents for the past six months because of the provincial order.

I've mentioned this before but just saw another article (linked below) that people 50 & over should read, if they haven't already looked into getting a #LongTermCare policy yet.

Based on the article, the money that I paid for a lifetime long term care policy over 20 yrs ago would now only be a fraction of the cost that it would cost to buy a similar policy now.

So, if you're a #Boomer like me or a #GenX, you really should look into getting a long term care policy, if you haven't done so already.

I've never really been into sports, and only started watching cycling only recently, and that being mostly from hearing about Alberta's own Alison Jackson.
Working in #longtermcare in a Veterans Home, I've started to learn about the finer points of Hockey and Football to talk with the residents whose lives revolve around watching them. Most of the games are too late for them to stay up for, and they often ask me in the morning how 'our' team did. I've taken to repeating the sports headlines.

If you're over 55 & haven't thought about it & don't want to be a complete burden upon your children &/or relatives down the road, you should do some research on long term care policies & buy the best one that you can afford now, before you actually need one.

I bought a long term care policy over 20 years ago.

Paid for it in full in order to avoid the payments & the risk of cancellation in case any payments were missed. It didn't cost that much . . . around $13K as I recall which I'm guessing would be considered extremely cheap now.

I don't know how it compares with other policies because I never did a comparison with other policies. However, I've read it &, while there are a lot of exclusions, at least I've got one. 🤷‍♂️

Reason #22 why #FordMustGo

Despite bragging about healthcare funding & adding hospital beds, Ford resorts to a somewhat callous Bill 7 that allows the province to move the elderly to a long term care facility that they didn't choose. And threatened families with fines if they refused to be moved. Ford's government proves once again they are incapable of dealing with a crisis with empathy versus using brute force and threats.

That relatives who would be able to help provide care are excluded from receiving supports and funding is short-sighted. Govts should work with family caregivers as an option for care services #longtermcare #Canada
