My employer, after 7 months of work, fired me overnight. Because I would be too "finicky" about code quality and security risks, which would better suit "a bank or cybersecurity company".
So I'm again #lookingForJob, either at #Montpellier (France) or #fullRemote. I am a #fullStack #developer with almost 10 years of experience on #php, #symfony, #html, #css, #javascript (#jquery and I'm also learning #vue). I am fluent in English, both written and spoken.
In 2024, I collected 122 gaming or gaming related companies from or with offices in Germany that I regularly check - well, 83 of them, since 39 do not post their job offerings on their website. Also, 6 of them did not survive 2024. If you know someone who could use a Junior Unity Developer for their team (freelance, part time or full time), please let me know. Trying not to complain (too much) about work, but it's been rough...

I'm putting feelers out looking for a job. I know it's a tall order considering what happened Tuesday. My current job isn't likely to survive the tariffs, and things have been looking dicey for a bit now anyway. I was a graphic designer for 20 years, but I've been a data manager for business intelligence analytics for a retail company for almost 3 years now. I had to change careers to afford to live, but I'm willing to take anything that involves graphic design, ye olde fuddy duddy web development, php, SQL (especially Snowflake), dbt, S3, ETL, etc. I even wrote my own ETL tool in php for handling data from APIs to S3 then to Snowflake because what we were using didn't have connectors for all our vendors. I've done a bit of everything. Remote, if possible, but I'd be willing to move for the right job especially if it's in the Toronto area. Please share. Pretty satisfied with how my portfolio on Itch is coming along. I think I won't invest time in my self-hosted website in the near future. I don't have anything complex to present and it's just a lot of work. When I was a web developer it was a showcase of my skills but that's no longer what I do, so Itch should be fine and it's even okay on mobile.

I'm a beginner in most of my fields but I learn fast and have many fields of interest. I am writing my thesis using #Unity, #SteamVR and #MotionCapture (cameras + retro-reflective markers). I have professional background in programming and educational background in psychology. I live in Germany (UTC+1) but I'm okay with working remotely.
I'm in the job market and looking for opportunities starting in January 2024.
My background is primarily VMware/Windows, but I've also worked with Ansible, Azure, Entra ID, PowerShell scripting/automation, Kubernetes, syslog logging, monitoring, and incident response (system outages, not security related). I am interested in moving into security since I think it's a fascinating industry.
In my spare time, I have a homelab where I am working through the Practical Threat Intelligence and Data-Driven Threat Hunting book. This has included setting up a vCenter, Domain Controller, windows VM, and HELK stack on Ubuntu. Once I install another 64 GB of RAM in there, I might also spin up a kubernetes cluster to start learning how security works in that space.

I have received a negative response from one company that did a final round interview with me at the end of August. That was a long time to receive news, but at least that removes a lot of uncertainty I was facing.

I'm pretty good with the codes. The Python codes, the C++ codes, the Node.js/Javascript codes. Getting up to speed with the Rust codes right now and having fun doing it. I know databases and caches and message queues and continuous integrations and clouds and assemblers and compilers and debuggers and linkers and unices. I can build, I can document, I can debug, I can design, I can test, I can teach, I can mentor, I can analyse, I can reverse engineer. You get forward engineering too, but I don't have an engineering degree. Been doing this for a while. I'm on the older side of things.
Pretty good with numbers too. If for some reason you want me to solve a partial differential equation, I'm on it. I can also do stats and I'll do it even if you prefer to call it data science.
I live in Canada, so that's where I need to get hired. I prefer remote, but if you want me to go into an office, it's going to have to be in Montreal.
