Today I finished #book 20 of this year's #52BookChallenge, 'Death of a Gossip' by #MCBeaton... it's the first book of the #HamishMacbeth series. It's also for prompt 37, a genre chosen by someone else. It is a drawing room #mystery that was chosen for me by a friend.

I'm not really too sure what to make of this book, as it was a rather long build up, with a short investigation. I'll probably carry on with this series, but it won't be a priority, unless it starts getting better.

Cosy cotswold village whodunnit with a funny heroine and plenty of other engaging characters. An easy read with a nice, quirky feel to it. I enjoyed it but not enough to actively look for others. Probably good books to read on journeys.

The bottle of whisky is purely decorative. I'm off the booze. But the books aren't. M.C. Beaton's mystery novels featuring Hamish Macbeth offer a lot of delight, so long as you like a wee dram of humor and absurdity thrown into your classic mystery plot.
