After two years of Israeli bombardment, much of Gaza’s civilian infrastructure and public health system has been destroyed.
People had hoped the October ceasefire would bring some respite and a gradual path to recovery.
But with continued Israeli restrictions on border crossings, aid, and goods, residents feel the situation has merely shifted from an intense genocide to a slower-paced one.

Prisoners for #Palestine (PFP), a group that has been supporting the families and friends of the hunger strikers, said the action - which is considered to be largest since the 1981 Irish Republican hunger strike - had achieved a number of victories, with several key demands being met.
Claiming the cancellation of #Elbit's contract as a "resounding victory," it warned that the arms company's "days in #Britain are numbered".

Additionally, civil defence spokesperson Mahmoud Basal accused #Israel of restricting the entry of necessary shelter, caravans and construction materials into #Gaza, compounding the natural disaster unfolding in the territory.
"A new polar storm is approaching Gaza, and what lies ahead will be catastrophic," Basal warned, adding that the coming days will bring "preventable deaths".
The Government Media Office in the strip stressed in its latest press release on Tuesday that "Gaza is dying slowly", adding that more than 7,000 tents were swept away in the past two days due to the strong winds and heavy rain.

Settlement expansion, settler attacks on farmers under the protection of Israeli forces, the routine theft of livestock, the destruction of village schools and homes and the forced displacement of Palestinians in the #EastJerusalem neighbourhoods of Sheikh Jarrah and Silwan all amount to systematic attempts to destroy, in whole or part, the #Palestinian people and their relationship to their ancient homeland.
During a recent visit to the northern #WestBank, I witnessed the physical destruction of refugee camps and was struck by how closely the lives of Palestinians there mirror the devastation faced by refugees in Gaza.

In an article published in the Israeli newspaper #Haaretz on Friday, #EhudOlmert said that violence by Israeli settlers against Palestinians wasn't just the work of fringe extremists but a coordinated campaign enabled by politicians, police and military authorities.

More than 50 international NGOs operating in occupied #Palestine have warned that recent registration measures imposed by #Israel are threatening to halt operations at a time of acute humanitarian need in #Gaza.
On 30 December, 37 NGOs received an official notification that their registrations would expire the next day, triggering a two-month period after which they would be required to cease operations in Gaza, as well as the occupied #WestBank and #EastJerusalem.
The ministry said the ban would also apply to those who "refused to submit a list of their Palestinian employees in order to rule out any links to terrorism".

American actor and humanitarian advocate Angelina Jolie has paid an official visit to the #Rafah Crossing in #Egypt - the only pedestrian and commercial gateway between #Gaza and the outside world - to meet with humanitarian organisations and better understand the conditions of Palestinians from Gaza, according to reports.
During Friday's visit, she viewed logistical supply warehouses operated by the Egyptian Red Crescent, which are used to store and distribute essential humanitarian assistance normally destined for Gaza.

An activist held on remand on charges linked to the direct action group #PalestineAction in #UK prison has been hospitalised for the fifth time after going on hunger strike for more than 50 days.
Kamran Ahmed is one of eight pro-Palestine activists who began a hunger strike last year after Shabana Mahmood, the home secretary, failed to respond to a letter setting out concerns over their treatment.
The group’s demands include immediate bail, an end to interference with their personal communications in prison, and the de-proscription of #Palestine Action, which accuses the UK government of complicity in #Israel’s genocide in #Gaza.

A raft of aid organisations working in #Gaza have warned of "devastating" consequences after #Israel announced it would be banning them from operating.
Israel said 37 organisations had failed to meet its new stringent rules for aid groups working in the occupied Gaza Strip, and would be suspended from 1 January.
Those affected include major international aid groups #DoctorsWithoutBorders (#MSF), #Oxfam, #ActionAid and the #NorwegianRefugeeCouncil.
...Oxfam's policy lead in the occupied Palestinian territory, told #MEE the new rules would compound an already disastrous situation in Gaza.

Nearly 50 Dem. members of Congress called on #Trump to address Israeli ceasefire violations in #Gaza and to withhold #US assistance if attacks continue.
The letter said #Israel's "bombardment against civilians, destruction of property and insufficient delivery of humanitarian aid" were jeopardising the ceasefire...
"It's imperative that we hold the Israeli government accountable for its actions," 49 members of the House said.
The letter was spearheaded by Representatives Mark Pocan and M. Dean. It was also endorsed by the Jewish advocacy groups J Street, the New Jewish Narrative and Win Without War.
