Hunky alien warriors kidnap earthlings to harvest their DNA and save their race. No sex is necessary, but things get weirdly complicated when some of the warriors fall for some of the earthmen, and strange things happen.

It starts with “Captured:” Lucas is stuck in a minimum wage job as a barista because what use is a history degree. His boyfriend left him, is about to be married, and he took their cat. Could his life get any worse? Somehow, “kidnapped by aliens” never even figured as a possible answer to that question. The aliens are big, blue, and very buff. And, one of them seems to have taken a liking to Lucas.

The Journeys series is a trilogy of books set in the late nineteenth century. The books follow two men, a Sicilian named Piero and the Englishman Henry, as they first meet in England, and then embark on their separate journeys to Southeast Asia. Journey to Angkor follows Piero’s explorations of Indochina and is based on the journals of explorer Henri Mouhot, while Journey to Rai-Lay recounts Henry’s adventure that takes him to an idyllic island village. The two are reunited to search for the man who split them up in Journey’s End.

“Fang’d” by Vin George.

Charley is on the run from the biker gang he works for because they think he killed one of their members. When Charley runs across a country lane trying to escape his pursuers, he’s nearly run over by Luc. The slightly older Luc is instantly attracted to Charley, so he offers to help. The two end up on a road trip, taking them to unexpected places, both metaphorically and physically.

“Fang’d” definitely hooks you in from the very start with the dramatic meeting between the two main characters and the urgency of being on the run. It keeps you reading once the characters begin learning about each other. In Charley’s case, he’s also learning some things about himself that radically changes his worldview.

Although only a few years older than Milo, Tyr has a lot more experience of the world. He only recently left the army for a job in private security. Although he knows there’s something fishy about Milo’s uncle, Tyr is still expecting a routine assignment, until he meets the young man.

He should be happy that the arranged marriage to a wealthy foreign businessman will finally get him out from under his father's thumb. But Nathan has never met his future husband, and the speed with which the marriage is to take place makes him uneasy. At first, Lord Rother seems nice enough, if a little too keen. He definitely gives Nathan a taste of the sexual pleasure he has been denied for the last five years. However, he soon discovers the true nature of Rother's business and begins to see the man's dangerously possessive side. It seems that Nathan has gone from one gilded cage to another.

Devlin manages a team that looks after the settlement of refugees from other planets. It’s not very glamorous, but it’s less dangerous than being out in the field chasing down illegal beings from other planets. There’s a high-profile embassy from the Chroalian system visiting Earth. Normally, Devlin wouldn’t be involved in such things, but it’s the summer holidays and the ministry is short-staffed, so they’ve asked Devlin to look after the ambassador’s son, Zal. The two males feel an instant attraction to each other, but Zal will only be on Earth for two weeks. Getting romantically involved would be a very bad idea.

“Dublin Bay” by John Patrick is a complex #MMRomance.

James is a seventeen-year-old working-class Irish man just out of school and looking for his first job. He’s picking mussels from Dublin Bay one day to feed his family when he spots another young man his age on the dock. James is mesmerized by the blond youth, Otto, who also seems attracted to James. Otto is German, and he and his father are on the dock seeing off Otto’s mother. It’s 1939, and what will become World War II is just starting in earnest. Otto makes his father buy the mussels from James, and before he knows it, James and his sister Bella are employed by Otto’s father to take care of their home. Otto and James soon become more than friends and are committed to finding a way to be together. As if their relationship weren’t dangerous enough, the two young men do what they can to help refugees from Nazi Germany. It’s a course of action that could get the two killed.
