I'm currently perplexed by what appears illogical to me.
I'd welcome perspective.
Next week I'm having planned major surgery: #TKR on the other knee.
Last month I had a pre-operative assessment: ECG, bloods, etc. This included swabbing & subsequent culture for #MRSA .
I was also given special antiseptic liquid wash & nasal cream to use for 4 days prior to surgery, along with instructions headed 'You tested positive for MRSA: here's what to do.'
I phoned for my blood & swab results: all good, but *be sure to use the wash & cream as instructed*. Huh?
1. Why take swabs & culture them (time, cost, labwork) if everyone is assumed positive?
2. Why issue wash & nasal cream (cost) to all if only some test positive?
