cogitating euphorbia? or praying? or holding its face in its hands?

A low-light 3am shot.

A book of poetry lying open on a white wooden table beside a white porcelain cup and saucer containing reflective black tea.

this feels like an old-timey still life portrait, but with random sidewalk detritus

#MagicInTheMundane I found a lunch spot for someone who enjoys seeds, and uses the log to crack them open.

A cut log on the forest floor has one end absolutely heaped with a big pile of husks from fir cones.

Ice crystals growing on the edge of a heated bird bath at -17 degree Fahrenheit

Top down view looking into a heated bird bath. On the left, ice crystals grow out onto the water. The ice is white and the branches of the ice look like the branches and needles on an evergreen tree.

Polystyrene. Hate the stuff but the patterns when light shines through it are great. #MagicInTheMundane

Skipping stones into the sunset
#photography #nature #MagicInTheMundane

A red and orange sunset over Lake Michigan. The sun is sitting right above the water. In the foreground a flat piece of ice hovers 2 feet over the water and you can see the circular splash where it just skipped off of the water.

'Was zu trinken (kein Alkohol)' #FotoVorschlag

Am not sure if a thumping great ship falls within the spirit of #MagicInTheMundane, but this lightfall caught my eye.

Short version: lightfall on a ship. Fuller description: A huge white industrial ship with red trim, quayside. 'Gute' from Visby, Sweden. It is as bombastic as the white high-rise office block behind it. The sea and sky are winter dark grey. That peculiar pre-storm bright light that you sometimes get is shining on part of the ship, making it glow bright white in a sort of pretty way, if you can use the word 'pretty' for a big ship. The lightfall is creating patterns on the lightly iced surface of the water. This photo was taken a few years ago.

Weird shapes in the ice
#magicinthemundane

Ice on a frozen lake, mostly bright, with a dark blotch that spreads tentacles in all directions, possibly caused by snow melting patterns

Macro Photography Assignments Week 3: "Revealing Texture" - personally this one is my bread & butter, I've always had a fascination with texture, and a decent phone camera is just giving me even more ability to take an even closer look :) (and yes, I know one of these four was just recycled from earlier this morning, it's just a good representation of texture so I wanted to include it in this assignment)

Frost! I am REAL happy with how these came out, 2 of 2, these ones are obviously NOT all on cars.

A two-in-one photo today for #FensterFreitag and #MagicInTheMundane : my view atm.
The weather has been miserable lately, with nothing much to see outside, not much incentive to go out. Makes it difficult to not wallow in the gloominess of this time of year. So here is my windowsill, an eclectic collection of stuff. Most of the plants are there to get as much light as possible during the winter months, but the rest of the detritus tends to live there permanently.

An ordinary looking windowsill in a nondescript house. There are four house plants, snake plant, Christmas cactus, aloe, and peace lily. A traditional looking lantern with replica shaped bulb inside. A small analogue alarm clock sitting inside a horse shoe lying flat on the shelf, a couple of candle type items. A blue stapler, a slightly grubby painting water pot. A small speaker in the shape of a guitar amp. A ghirardelli chocolate tin shaped like a san Francisco trolley car. A cardboard gingerbread house.

I’m sitting on the couch, and Rey has curled up next to me. Her head has turned in, and rests on her fluffy tail.

#CouchDog
#MagicInTheMundane #DogsOfMastodon

Rey is a beautiful mix canine. About 60 pounds. Her fur is long, especially on the tail. Mostly white, with light brown ears, and face markings, and a few spots on her.
