Two of our old village lime trees. They have thick old trunks. Very high in one part is a hole with something beige sitting in it.

A hole in an ancient thick trunk of a limetree. Something seems to be sitting inside, bright beige, like an owl or a Madonna. It's a piece of barkless wood, probably taken there from the last storm. Nature as an artist.

durch die wahl des quadratischen ausschnittes und die reduzierung der farbpalette ist aus einem foto ein mehr oder weniger abstraktes farbspiel geworden. auf grünem grund, links kräftiger grün, rechts blasseres, graueres grün, sind eine vielzahl keiner orange-gelber strichlein einigermaßen parallel zueinander so angeordnet, dass sich ein leicht welliger strom bildet, ziemlich dicht in der bildmitte sowie, durch einen grünen streifen abgetrennt, unten rechts, weniger dicht oben links, dort überwiegt das grün. die gelben striche führen in einem bogen um die grünere fläche herum. im etwas abgetrennten bereich unten rechts sind die strichlein oranger. oben durchs bild verläuft noch diagonal ein gerader schatten.
die strichlein sind blütenstränge von erlen und hasel, die würmchenartig auf dem wasser eines baches schwimmen, der sich hier vor einem biberdamm staut, dort werden sie zusammengeschoben. da wo das grün etwas grauer ist befindet sich eine geschlossene schicht pollen auf dem wasser.

es ist ein pilz aus der Familie der Holzkeulenverwandten (Xylariaceae), der diese schöne giraffenfellartige schwarzweißfärbung des holzes bewirkt.

auf feuchtem boden mit zerfallendem laub und welkem gras liegt ein stück eines etwa fingerdicken astes, ohne rinde. das an sich verbleichte, fast weiße holz ist durchsetzt mit einem pilz, der schwarze verfärbungen erzeugt, dergestalt, dass unregelmäßig vieleckige schwarze bereiche entstehen, die von dünnen weißen linien voneinander getrennt sind, so als würden die schwarzen flecken, wenn sie sich ausbreiten, anhalten kurz bevor sie auf einen anderen schwarzen fleck treffen.
