@levynoise i work for an organization that has been doing the Microsoft thing for my entire 20 year career. MS is the corporate standard, but it's not the best option, and it's very expensive.

For most medium sized businesses a hosted Nextcloud instance and Mailcow email server could save 10s of thousands of dollars a year, prevent vendor lock-in, and get all the same work done.

There are good reasons to like Microsoft products. There are good reasons to abhor them.

To keep myself focused on something positive (for myself at least), I went from a single iPhone for work and private to a dual phone setup. Just to play around with Android for the first time in some years again.

The Mastodon app on Android (Pixel) is pretty slick.

Together with a lot of #selfhosted stuff ( #mailcow #Immich #matrix etc) it's actually not that big a deal to make an ecosystem swap. The rest of the apps are subscription models anyway. :-)

BTW: Es Testsystem gibt es natürlich auch. Die Leute von #Mailcow machen zwar einen sehr guten Job bei den Tests der Patches, aber: Shit happens.

I'm ready to move onto something else, maybe Maddy, but the most important feature for me is good calendar integration.

I updated #Mailcow to 2025.03. I ended up reconstructing my whole old setup as all my patches can now be achieved by changing configs or docker-compose.override.yaml.

No jako jo, tak jsem si rozbil mailový server. Ale je to vtipné a poučení pro příště. Na jednom vps mám v dockeru #mailcow a pak jsem si kvůli svému skriptu, pro kontrolu aktualizací na serveru a poslání mailové notifikace nainstaloval krom jiného postfix. @Laempel indeed #mailcow needs a lot of resources, I think it requires minimum 6GB or RAM while a #chatmail server requires less than 1GB
