I feel like alot of the despair I feel as an aspiring artist is from the disharmony between the statement of intent, "I want to make art", when really the true feeling is "I want to have had made art".

It's not that I might "trust the process", it's "the art is the process". Or "the map is not the territory" vis à vis "the artifact is not the art".

Usually, I go the other way around - writing lyrics to already existing melodies and chords. Switching it up for the project I'm working on is a nice change of pace. Plus, working individual notes to make them fit onto each syllable is its own kind of micromanaging mini-game.
