@Harlander

Hey Jeffrey

I set up my first distro in the early 2000s. #Mandrake, then #Ubuntu.

I later switched to #Linux Mint. Now I use #Manjaro, both at work and at home

Linux keeps improving !

People seemed to like my Mandrake 7.2 install so have 5.1 too. Glad it worked this time :blobsmile:

This image depicts a cluster of yellowish-brown fruits, possibly berries or nuts, nestled among dried leaves on the ground. The background consists of various shades of brown and green foliage with some rocks visible in the upper left corner. This photograph appears to be an old print from around 1900 to 1920, as indicated by its style and quality. It is part of a collection titled "Wild flowers of Palestine," featuring Mandrake (Mandragora officinarum L.). The American Colony in Jerusalem was the source of this photograph, which likely has historical significance related to natural flora found in that region during that time period.

@waldstepper

@Jill_linuxgirl Thanks for the nice shoutout!

And @gael you got a big shoutout here, too, as creator of Mandrake!

By the way, I joined #MandrakeSoft on Aug 1, 2000, with my first task to switch #Mandrake as the first distro to CUPS, and the first #LinuxMandrake with #CUPS was 7.2, from September 2000.

Jill, but even in the dark years of LPD it detected your printer already (thanks, Gaël)!

And get well soon @MichaelTunnell !

@gael You started early, in i386 times, Linux' first architecture. When I started in 1997 with SUSE 5.1 we had mostly Pentium and some i486, 8MB and 16MB RAM, FVWM, built KDE 1.0 first time in 1998 (?) (on SGI IRIX), installed Mandrake Linux for the first time on my first laptop mid-1999, and on my wife's PC in April 2000, got invited to work at MandrakeSoft to switch the distro to CUPS min-2000.

So you did an important step to what I am now. Thanks!
