Listen, young technical #mangers in #IT: #UI consumes more than 80% of every project's total effort. But you don't need to use those massive UI frameworks, which were designed by the Internet Giants to implement their billion-user platforms, to implement your hundred-user, internal corporate system. Empower and encourage your technical staff to explore creative ways to save time and effort expenditure by using text UI #TUI and command-line interface #CLI for internal use. You also don't need to follow the herd with middle tier, storage tier, and the rest. You and your technical staff know your business the best.

Users of internal corporate IT systems are, by definition, business experts. They don't need to be coddled by a fancy web UI to perform their duties in the most effective manner. After a few minutes of exploration, they will be proficient in the TUI and the CLI. Save the time, money, and effort in both development and maintenance of internal systems and, instead, apply those savings to educate your technical staff and to let them explore new avenues of creativity.

Don't worship at the alter of #complexity alongside the unwashed masses. Instead, practise #simplicity to cleanse your mind.

The focus on #hybridworking or #workingfromhome has produced studies that have explored its negative & positive aspects, as well as the intentions & views of #mangers.

What's interesting (I may be wrong) is; while many studies are being undertaken by #university researchers, no major study seems to have explored the long experience of a key group who have been hybrid working for decades.... academics themselves.

There are lessons to be learnt from universities (miss)management of its staff!
