I often make a vegetarian variation of Mapo Tofu (didn't check all ingredients for Pixian Doubanjian and other ingredients from Asian shops in detail, so not sure if it's also #vegan). It's a quick store cupboard favourite, and I use vegan mince made from jackfruit & pea protein as well as tofu cubes, to recreate the different textures you have in meaty #MapoTofu. And finish with freshly ground Szechuan pepper.

Since today I don't feel well, here is some #mapotofu to kill all the viruses inside me.

Our meal today was meant to be Japanese but really it was Chinese. 😳😋

I made Japanese Mapo Tofu from the @justonecookbook website and enoki mushrooms (with garlic and spring onion sauce) from @thewoksoflife. The latter is clearly featuring Chinese cooking but Mapo Tofu is originally from China too, so you see, all Chinese! 😅

In any case, both dishes were delicious and I was told by the family to make them soon again. And that despite the huge tofu cubes! There was also minced meat and the spicy sauce that made everything mouthwateringly good. Why did I not try this earlier?!

Took some food with me from a local chinese restaurant.

I think that for a real mapo tofu I have to look for a more authentic restaurant.

But the crispy duck with fried noodles was quite good.
