A nice weekend trip.

View of a canal and lock with trees overhanging.

Water level at Sparth reservoir was a little low today.

A lack of spoons this week (which resulted in a sneak attack by brain weasels) has rendered me read-only on here when I've checked in. It also ruined our weekend plans (a cycling trip). Boo.

We did though get out for a walk today: a 14km loop around Marsden Moor. The route was mostly new/new-ish to us but made use of the Pennine Way and other well-worn trails (Packhorse, Standedge) so was decent underfoot and easy to navigate. And despite the clouds, it stayed dry too.

A moorland landscape. Hills on either side of the image fall off into a green valley winding a curve through the middle of the picture. The hills are covered in yellowed vegetation (the summer grasses run to seed) but the valley is still green, with trees still in full leaf.A stone waymark reading "Pennine Way" with an arrow pointing to the left. The waymarker is a stone block, around 50cm tall. It sits amidst a scrubby moorland landscape, littered with rocks.A moorland hillside, covered in grass. The grass on the slopes has gone to seed and is yellow, but a shorter green path winds through the middle. To the left of the path, there is a brick cylinder- a chimney/air vent for the canal tunnel deep under the hill. A ridge of dark rocks/cliffs lines the top of the hill. The silhouette of a tall man walking along a canal towpath, through a tunnel. The area under the bridge is dark but beyond, it's a bright day (hence the man being in silhouette). The tunnel has stone walls and its roof is made from metal girders.
