Maybe spending money for the protection of #canada and #europe actually happens to secure two major economic markets with 500 million mainly rich consumers, where, since the #marshallplan, american companies make a big part of their profits. Two things #America does better than anyone else: boast, and whine. “Whaaa, Trump’s a big meany. I’m not actually doing anything about it, but I did put “#RESIST” on my Instagram profile”. That’s America. They’ve been patting themselves on the back for the #MarshallPlan since the end of #WWII. Everything else is a shit show. The one bright spot is the #CivilRights movement. Das habe ich erst spät verstanden. Wir wollten ja nach der Wende eine eigenständige linke DDR, aber das wäre eben nicht gegangen.
Auch dass der Reichtum des Westens zum Großteil eben auf der Ausbeutung des Südens beruhte, den der Osten eben mangels konvertierbarer Währung nicht ausbeuten konnte. Was ich von #Hoyer gelernt habe, war, dass auch die #HallsteinDoktrin noch erschwerend hinzukam.

Die #BRD verhinderte dadurch, dass die DDR mit anderen Ländern Handel treiben konnte. Die BRD war größer und so wichtiger und wenn andere Länder mit ihr Handel treiben wollten, konnten sie das eben nicht mit der DDR tun.
Dazu kam noch #Marshallplan vs. Reparationsleistungen an die SU, Bodenschätze vs. keine, Industriegebiete vs. wenig.
