The Ambushers, published in 1963, Donald Hamilton’s sixth Matt Helm spy thriller. Helm has to assassinate a rebel leader and rescue an American agent. Lots of double-crosses and moral murkiness and some scores to settle. Superb spy fiction.

@emarktaylor IMO it’s the best one: Dino, Ann-Margret, Karl Malden, Camilla Sparv. Probably followed by The Wrecking Crew though that’s hard to watch now knowing what happened to Sharon Tate. The other two are forgettable, not even Daliah Lavi and Stella Stevens could save The Silencers. #MattHelm

Tonight we are holding our Saturday Night At The Movies double feature in honor of Stella Stevens, who joined the ancestors yesterday. The Nutty Professor (1963) and The Silencers (1966).

The Nutty Professor also pays tribute to the great Stella with its theme music, the tune Stella By Starlight as played by Les Brown and his Band of Renown.
