#MatureTrees

A small wooden footbridge, known locally as Devil’s Bridge, spans a shallow rocky stream at the entrance to Swallow Woods. The bridge has timber railings on both sides and a wooden gate at the near end, opening onto grassy ground. Behind, the dense woodland is filled with mature trees, their foliage forming a lush green backdrop. Ferns and bracken grow at the woodland edge.

The that beats all others: . The only reason mature trees are not seen as a solution to is because they are actively capitalised on for other purposes.

Now all Western capitals suffer from unprecedented , Andrew Hunter Murray explains why the plane tree is an extraordinary tree working double shifts to cool down the capital & remove .

on a spree in , as i spotted around 20 marked trees in a single run. This reminds me to chase my FOI about monitoring & survival rate (UK average is 30% die in the first 12 months). It seems there’s zero policy in a city () where most trees were planted in the 19th century. Anyone has a policy/blueprint to share to encourage local authorities to do better?

The U.S. Forest Service recently started a process that could restrict #logging of old-growth forests and #trees in all 128 #NationalForests. This nationwide forest plan amendment will protect some climate-saving trees, but it leaves open #loopholes that could allow logging of many others. The agency's proposal also lacks safeguards for #MatureTrees, which it defines as "the stage of forest development immediately before old growth."

@Tassie_JR Believe me I know! I’ve been banging on about this whole thing for two decades and have had to deal with heaps of negative criticism for being outspoken about it. We all need to work together to protect our precious #MatureTrees as they are a major part of the slowing down and reducing the adverse impacts of what is coming. 🌳💚👍🏼
