I just had a rummage around in a big box o’ random crap I’ve got in the spare room as it occurred to me that I used to have a Zip drive and thought it might be in there. Alas, no, but I did find some of my old Zip disks, plus some other random bits and bobs.

I found my old joysticks for my Commodore Plus/4 (very un-ergonomic, I never liked using them even back in the day), the A520 modulator for my Amiga 500 (haven’t needed to use that in ages!), a seemingly unopened floppy head cleaners for both 3 1/2” and 5 1/4” drives (I’ve never even owned a 5 1/4” drive, so that’ll remain unused) and, the bit I’m most looking forward to delving into, 6 CDs worth of audio samples. There must be at least some useful sounds in that lot I can use!

I’m sure I’ve still got that Zip drive *somewhere*, I seriously doubt I’d have chucked it. I bloody hope not anyway.

Trying to fix a Koonlung K1S, a probably long-term project. [plus downloads]
The Koonlung K1S is a very nice dashcam, with GPS, emergency button and HD recording and everything is made quite small. The HD video has a bit of a low bit rate, but it’s still not bad. That said, it became a piece of rubbish. No matter what kind of SD card is inserted, the software locks up…

In my room circa 1985 — ninth grade. This image tells a story. On the floor: yellow swim team t-shirt to the right of topsiders with Walkman headphones, a #Maxell cassette and the Under a Blood Red Sky album all within reach.

My component stereo system is center stage — #JVC speakers, #Technics turntable, #Akai receiver, #Pioneer tape deck — paid for by lawn mowing. And in the corner against the wall, my science project — designing and building a two-way speaker with a crossover network.

I am super excited to load it up, downloaded compatible restore disc images from #Internet Archive. Unfortunately, some old blank #Verbatim discs I have are not recognized in #Finder in #macOS Monterrey. I was able to use a #Maxell blank disc I have to burn disc 1, but need disc 2 to finish up the restore.
