I've been collecting a lot of material on Yahoo! Inc lately.

I kinda find it fascinating in a "fallen giant" kind of way. The company is still around but nowhere near as powerful as it once was in the late 90s - early 2000s. Pretty much a cautionary tale for all Silicon Valley companies, they will all fade in obscurity anyway.

How to store webpages on paper punchcards?

Part of my diploma project on the environmental impact of data storage. I imagined a setup where websites are archived on paper punchcards, punched by hand using custom tools. A remixed python program scans the card, analyzes the data and stores it in an HTML page, opening it in a browser at the end of the process.

I've spent many years teaching accessibility and media, and the difference is not trivial in my over-educated opinion.

Captions include all sonic information, and are in the same language that is being spoken on screen.

Subtitles are a translation of the spoken dialog only, they do not include sound effects or music, etc. Subtitles present TRANSLATIONS in other languages than what is being spoken on screen.

Captions are a great example of Universal Design, while subtitles are a targeted accommodation for a specific audience.
