Book 5: A Theory of Adaptation by Linda Hutcheon / Siobhan O'Flynn.

I don't remember why I borrowed this book from the library, but someone recalled it so I felt obligated to finish it.

I didn't really learn anything from it, tbh, and while I'm accustomed to academic writing, I got really annoyed by it here for some reason.

Oh well.

"Digital methods not only provide answers to existing questions, but also generate new ones".

@janasinakeck examined how women acted as recipients, producers, and actors in the German-American press - well before women's pages were invented in the 1890s. Through the combination of digitized newspapers and automated text reuse detection, she was able to examine several thousand texts 👇

Analyzing Der Spiegel's iconic cover: "The End of the World (as we know it)" 🎨
European editorial tradition of provocative visual commentary vs. abstract climate statistics. This is journalism as intervention, using design to communicate urgency when words fall short. A lesson in how visual storytelling can spark public discourse.

Misinformation thrives during periods of societal volatility. 🧠

Instability reshapes trust, authority, and belief — creating fertile ground for distorted narratives to spread and endure.

Aymar Jéan Escoffery's (@ajescoffery) new book, Reparative Media: Cultivating Stories and Platforms to Heal Our Culture, is now out! An incredibly important title that reimagines how movies, TV, and a broader array of media can be made and distributed in ways that include more people and move beyond the extractive models so common to contemporary streaming and social media. #OpenAccess
