Too many of those sorts are being emboldened
"Entitled" is too nice a word

Society said her body isn't hers
The law upheld that her body isn't hers
(times never changed)

She's not the prettiest
No, certainly not, but it wasn't about beauty
It was about power

Snakes and shrikes looking for prey
And, in the grand scheme, she is but a mouse

Too many are emboldened
To take what's not theirs

She's defiant
(bless it or curse it)

Society said her body isn't hers
The law upheld that her body isn't hers

She didn't want them to touch her
It was irrational, certainly, self-destruction is
However, to her, they wouldn't want to touch her

If she cut herself to pieces
Burned herself until she blistered
Anything to mar and mutilate

The shell that held her being

It's her body, isn't it?
If it isn't hers, then it won't be theirs, either.

It's Overstepping, NOT HELP.
She was annoyed
Coughing still, but annoyed
But mostly annoyed

She's been sick
The worst of it was gone
But she still coughed

And Grandma took it upon herself to "help"

She got dogpiled, yesterday
Both were lectuuring her
About not seeking a doctor

(and some flimflam)

If her illness were more severe, she'd be hospitalized
But, she wasn't, no

She just had a longer coughing spell
With chirpy, phlegmy coughs
And headaches

Not much more severe than that

She's more apt to wait it out
Citing experience and iatrophobia
She knew her insides pretty well

Well enough to know

Cough syrups don't work
And, odds are, like before, doctors will dismiss her
With a prescription

(that won't work)

Perhaps, next time, she'd resolve things herself
After all, there's less stress in that

Father and Grandmother mean well
Of course, they do but she's not a child
Nor is she profoundly disabled

It's well-meaning but very unhelpful, irksome
To overstep

"There will come a time"
