Finished #MegaMan 7. Many years ago, I remember practicing with an emulator and being able to dodge the final boss consistently. That muscle memory is totally gone, but 4 E-tanks and an S-tank was sufficent!
This game is such a mixed bag and feels unfinished. Parts of it feel poorly balanced, and I don't see the reason for having 2 sets of 4 robot masters instead of just making all of them available. And Mega Man is just slightly too big.
That said, there are lots of genuinely fun and cool parts, and it is fun to learn some of the boss patterns. Great music too, especially those credits 💀 + 🔥 = 🎶
I blazed through #MegaMan X1-4 this week, having not played these games in decades. It is uncanny how much muscle memory I still had that v would take over and dodge specific boss patterns.
I was surprised that I dislike X3 a bit. There are way to many things to collect (some of which serve 1 or even no purpose). I found 2 pink capsules before finding a normal one. The ride armor is lame. The upgraded charge shot is so slow moving I'd rather skip the arm upgrade entirely. The final boss has a terrible hit box. The level design was fairly dull and empty throughout.
It does have some cool music at least. It is a shame that the legacy collection doesn't have the PSX/Saturn OST as an option. I never understood the hate that version gets.
