Putting the feelers out there for my partner that runs a business on IG, is thinking about threads, and eventually wanting to move to mastodon.
Due to some of the word being that if you delete the threads app, that your IG account also gets deleted or something....
They are curious about what happens to their threads, and IG accounts, would they get erased if migrating away from threads to a mastodon instance?

Up until now, I've stayed out of the Meta Threads discussion. I'll just say that in the last few months, I've discovered at least 3 folks that I had previously followed on Twitter, and now I'm very happy I can now follow them here on Mastodon. Being able to read their posts here greatly increases my satisfaction on Mastodon.
FWIW, I get the concern about a possible Embrace, Extend, Extinguish play by Meta.
I find it interesting how quickly Threads was adopted. I don’t have an account (yet?) but I wonder if the usual Twitter trash found its way there as well. That was the main reason I stopped using Twitter. #meta #metathreads #threads #twitter
