Metsola to Commission: Change the legal basis for the €150bn defence fund or face EU court.

European Parliament President Roberta Metsola has warned the European Commission that bypassing Parliament for the billion-euro joint procurement loans could trigger legal action at the EU’s top court.

Article 122 of the EU Treaty, normally used in emergencies, allows the Commission to push through proposals, minimising Parliament's negotiating time.

▶️ Damit wird die neue EU-Kommission wohl erst per 1.1. ihr Amt antreten – sechs Monate (!) nach der Wahl.

Die jetzige Kommission ist übergangsmäßig noch im Amt – aber sie verwaltet nur und trifft keine großen Entscheidungen mehr. Super in Krisen.
