I've managed to track this to user@1000.service failing to start for some reason. Upon ssh, it starts properly.

Is this expected #systemd behavior? This sure doesn't look like it. I'm suspecting this is a #MicroOS issue.

In recent times my Raspberry Pi server with #MicroOS has been behaving weirdly.

My server sometimes goes down and it seems it's because of an automated system restart according to the logs (when I have transactional-update disabled, so that shouldn't be happening).

When that happens, it takes a bit for me to ssh to it. It seems like my #podman #quadlets are not obeying #systemd enable-linger and starting on boot with WantedBy=default.target , because they only start after I ssh to it.

Forget guessing command flags. Use #openSUSE’s manpage viewer to search across releases: manpages.opensuse.org #Tumbleweed #Leap #MicroOS #LinuxTips #ManPages #Linux

@bryanredeagle I've not done any actual testing with it, but I wouldn't bet the farm that you're going to have a good experience using #ZFS with #MicroOS. I can say, at present, for the actual system, it won't work at all, as MicroOS is designed to use btrfs snapshotting as the core of it's "immutability" mechanism. Having ZFS storage pools mounted to MicroOS is certainly *possible* but I don't know how fragile the out-of-tree openZFS modules are, when it comes to updates…

Okay. Got a new server put together. Now to figure out all the software bits. I would like to run MicroOS and manage it with Cockpit. The question is whether I can do a decent RAID on it.

Btrfs, MicroOS's default filesystem, only has experimental RAID 5 support. I'm not sure yet how well ZFS would run on it. Which leaves me with traditional RAID. Which I hope works well enough, but I haven't used it in forever.

@jjba23 @rafa my hope is that #Agama + #Tumbleweed will provide the most similar experience/features while also being "mainstream" and "super easy" on the user. #MicroOS or #Silverblue might be even better choices...

@passthejoe because it's the default on whatever it is you're running? I think #distrobox is probably a better option for a desktop usecase, but #toolbx is perfectly cromulent for a server, where you're basically just using #microOS or #coreOS for a container host, it doesn't need to be fancy.

Need to check a #manpage for a #tool not installed on your system? Use the #openSUSE's manpages.opensuse.org. It is great for remote work, scripting and lightweight environments. #Leap, #Tumbleweed #MicroOS #LinuxTips #ManPages

Reinstalled (again) OpenSUSE Slowroll with LXQT & Labwc. Played around with the installer and ended up with Slowroll MicroOS. It still uses regular zypper and not transactional-update under the hood. It works well so far.

I guess I will use it until something catastrophically breaks...
