Brought Bumblebee, Steakout, and Roadhandler to work today. The Power of The Primes Bumblebee is fun, and I like the little Micromasters, though their gun modes are a little silly. Still fun though!

Happy New Year, everyone! Here's to many many more robo shenanigans in 2024!!!

Deskbots today are the Decepticon Race Track Patrol!

Back in the original G1 toyline (OG1) Micromasters initially came in sets of four and six and one-with-trailer/base. When Hasbro recently revisited the concept in Generations it managed only packs of two, and never finished any of the original fours or sixes...except for this one lone Patrol who saw their final two members chucked out in a special six pack of redecos.

The modern Micromaster releases are lesser releases in just about every way - the push towards greater articulation being the only very slight plus in a veritable sea of minuses. But I love them anyway.

The team are joined by their OG1 counterparts for comparison. Be gentle.

Fun fact: Whereas Hasbro released Decepticons on a rough 1:2 ratio versus Autobot teams this team is the only one Takara released as Decepticons in Japan until the Micromaster Combiners arrived in subsequent years. Every other Micromaster they released at that point were Autobots. The reason: villains don't sell, Japanese children that year presumably all being uber cooperative goody-two-shoes.

Runner used to be called Barricade but thanks to the Michael Bay movies that name is now popularly welded to an entirely different character (one now retroactively backported into G1 as a Decepticon version of the Datsun brothers).

The four in car modes. The cheapness of the modern remakes is most visible here as we have only two molds between four toys: MotorHead and Runner are redecos of GroundHog and Roller Force respectively. Notably the redecos have fewer paint apps as well. Tsk.

Now the four newer toys (back row) are joined by their OG1 counterparts (front row). MotorHead and Barricade stand out with their diffferent molds.

Robot mode old vs new comparisons of GroundHog and Roller Force. The new ones look more detailed and as mentioned are slightly more articulated but that comes at the cost of conversion simplicity, a cool design feature of all original Micromasters. The new ones can be fiddly to Transform.

These two #Transformers #Micromasters that came with #HasLab #Deathsaurus are the best fidget toys EVER. Solid and sturdy little guys. I wish all the Siege and Earthrise Micromasters were this durable, but I don’t doubt it was a budgetary restriction that HasLab didn’t have to worry about.

Ohno! The Decepticon anti aircraft squad have captured the race car patrol! Luckily SG #Thundercracker is here to save them, but wouldn't it be better if the Autobots had sent someone who isn't an aircraft??

The Anti-Aircraft Base deployed in base mode on a desk, filled with Micromasters. The race car patrol is present sitting down in the main part of the base, except for Tailspin who is manning a missile emplacement. The Decepticon Micromasters are manning some guns, aiming for Thundercracker in garish Action Master/Shattered Glass colors who in jet mode who is sweeping in from the edge of the image

More new friends! #Transformers don't get a lot of love on the local auction site #Tradera, I think I picked up all of these for less than a complete #Doubledealer usually goes for... Makes it harder to move my own bots tho.

DD is SUCH A COOL TOY! I love how each #powermaster unlocks a separate mode, revealing the hidden #Autobot or #Decepticon badges.

Also, I only now remembered I had Anti-Aircraft Base as a kid, one of very few bots. But why is it crewed by a pair of planes?? #Micromasters

A big helping of Transformers lined up in alt mode on a table, mostly cars and trucks. We have Doubledealer, Anti-Aircraft Base, Swerve, Crankcase, Rescue Patrol, Race Car Patrol, and Overload

These guys don't get enough love. Only 2 real designs for #Modulators but I loved them so much I had to get the full set.
The fact they make little bases for the #Micromasters and the Micromasters can become their weapons too is just really fun.
The Botropolis Rescue Mission set with it's whole Space shuttle base motif has been one of my favorate purchases and you just get so much in that one box.
You can also use these guys to arm up your other bots or make weird combiners too.
