Microsaccades strongly modulate but do not cause the N2pc EEG marker of top-down covert and internal shifts of spatial attention. Trials were classified into “toward-microsaccade,” “away-microsaccade,” and “no microsaccade” classes based on the presence/absence and direction of microsaccades in the relevant predefined 150–400 ms time window.
