Two more small comments about Pokopia. Zero spoilers.
As any good game does, it does ramp up the complexity over time. So if early game is boring, just hang in there. It won’t take long.
Second, it does *not* hold your hand like you might expect, especially for Pokémon. You have much more freedom than you think (this means many things, but again no spoilers). It’s just mainly on you to discover.
The biggest change outside of the data pack itself for this season was the inclusion of some new faces, as well as the shift towards meta-gaming our early phase plans.
Last time around we just kinda found a place to settle down and hoped for the best. Once we got settled in and got some food and resources/equipment sorted, we would generally go exploring for various biome-specific blocks/items, such as bamboo or dyes. This time around? Find a village asap and lock away every villager until we figure out how to survive. Then it was a matter of time before we were trading them their own resources for tools, food, and even enchanted books. No more need for mob farms or spawners or none of that.
Thematically it separates the two seasons, but I'm still unsure which of the two I prefer...

A #pokopia journey
Day 1: This is cute. A little #acnh flavor. The plot is a cute premise, too.
Day 2: I didn’t know I needed #minecraft in the #pokemon universe. Materials are easy to get and the projects are kinda fun.
Day 3: ARMY CORPS OF ENGINEER SIMULATOR IS AMAZING. IT’S CLEAR TO ME DAY 4 IS FACTORIO AND I CANNOT WAIT
The great blockening was a big hit. Littlest and teens both got in on the fun, with slightly different rule sets. Middle child & I had a great time at the dollar store and Bulk Barn finding themed goodies for each type of ore & specialty block. The simple roll & pick game (roll a die to see how many blocks you can mine) was simpler than needed for my newly-minted 6-year-old, but perfect for her younger cousin. As it stands, there was so much fun and excitement to see what was in each block and strategizing to get to blocks that had been revealed, but weren't yet accessible. A real highlight of the party, and the adults there (most of who weren't very familiar with Minecraft) loved seeing it in action too. And having the bigger kids helping their tiny cousin was fantastic - just reinforcing how Minecraft can encourage emergent collaborative play, even when there's competition for resources.

Had a great weekend for gaming!
- #GamerKid and I *finally* beat the main progression in This Means Warp! (On easy mode, but that still counts - it had been kicking our butts up until yesterday!)
- I also completed Tangaroa in #Raft ! This was honestly my favorite island so far - intuitive but challenging, and an outstanding moment in the game's world-building. Two more islands to go!
And of course, some other great sessions with both kids playing #Minecraft and #BoomerangFu .
Now - time to plan next weekend's activities 😀
