#HotTake

If the massive army of *mainly* priveledged, Cis-Het, White 'experts' currently wringing their hands over the "Death of Democracy" had put in as much fucking effort into fighting authoritarianism and punching nazis as they have hand-wringing, maybe we wouldn't be in this shit hole. Or perhaps they could have just listented to those of us in #minority groups who have been sounding the alarm and fightning fo fucking centuries.

I am not #Black. I am not #Latina. But I am a #Queer #Trans Immigrant, and I've not be quiet about the bullshit coming our way. That massive army (mostly) told us we were being hysterical and we should look on the bright side and shut up, waving flags with us because it made them look good. If all of this convenient allyship doesn't show the need for minority stories to be told on days like #Juneteenth, I fucking don't know what does.

We’re still racially maps. Today, we’re looking at a principle called the “Gingles Test” that use when determining whether a gerrymandered redistricting map is a violation of the 1965 Voting Rights Act. How that test is interpreted can determine if can elect the candidate of their choice, or their vote is diluted by an anti-voter
