20. Necropolis
🧠 There's so many good views in the Necroplis - I think this is the first one I took when I walked in.
⭐I love the colour of the grass and sky - helped by some Lightroom editing.
➡️ I would have liked to pull out the biggest structure a bit more in terms of detail and colour but don't really know how yet.

Is anyone using a #MFT #camera here?
How sharp is the LUMIX 12-60mm lens at full zoom?
I couldn't find any RAW files online :/
I'm not sure if 12-60 is enough or I should get the heavier, more expensive 14-140mm.
For comparison, this is a minilally processed #RAW file from my previous camera, fully zoomed in. I'd like to match it (taking into account the 350mm equiv focal length and 5MPix resolution).

17. Dome
🧠 I wanted to focus on the detail of the dome, with the cathedral adding some background colour.
⭐I think the detail came up well .
➡️ Maybe more blue sky in the background would have made for more balanced colour.

16. Holy Smoke!
🧠 When I saw this statue in the Necropolis, I knew I wanted to get a shot of her looking over the city. I didn't notice till after that the long cloud level with her face looks like smoke coming out of her mouth!
⭐I like how much detail I've got in the subject compared to other shoots with my new camera. I feel I'm getting the hang of settings better and not just letting ISO go on auto and get cranked right up!
➡️ I feel some of the background looks shaky as well as blurred but I'm not sure.

14. Broccoli
🧠 This was taken for the same close up/macro task as the dead leaf but I didn't submit this one. I really like taking this kind of picture and I don't yet have a macro lens for my newer camera! Coming soon...
⭐I love the colours and the shape of the texture with it's contrast in the imperfect but in the middle.
➡️ Like the dead leaf pic, I maybe could've experimented a bit more with blur using different aperture settings.

13. Pigeons
🧠 Saw these guys overlooking the pond with all the other birds and wondered what they thought of it!
⭐I'm pleased with the separation between subject and background (emphasised a bit in lightroom as a by-product of trying to get rid of some noise.)
➡️ It's cropped quite a bit to isolate the subjects so not as sharp looking as I'd like.

⭐ I like the symmetry of the two trees framing the middle part of the building and the messy texture created by the branches in front of the stone.
➡️ I think it would look much better with a blue sky. Back the next sunny day!

🧠 We met this guy on our way to the pond yesterday and he spent some time with us. He looks grumpy but was very friendly and affectionate!
⭐ I love the detail of his fur and the blurred background shows it off well.
➡️ I struggled to get a good shot of his whole body with his beautiful eyes showing. He was too fast for me!

My Canon EOS M50 - a camera I absolutely love using. It is my avatar as well. I love using old Canon FDn manual lenses with this mirrorless body (via a K&F Concept adapter). Most often I shoot in Manual mode - it very much reminds me of the "good old days" with my first SLR camera - an Olympus OM-1. I sometimes miss shots because I'm just too dang slow, and other times I'm using Canon EF-S zoom lenses which are auto focus and image stabilizing.
How about you? Do you have a modern camera that you use old manual lenses on? Any tips for getting great shots with this kind of setup?

10. Swans
🧠 I thought it would be a good day to get some pictures of birds at the pond. These guys were very still the whole time but the one on the right started to show off as we were leaving.
⭐ Love that I managed to capture this pose and I think my lightroom editing did a good job of making the swans pop.
➡️ I think I've managed to edit most of it out but most of the pics I took today have unpleasant noise.

9. Tunnel
🧠 I like this pedestrian tunnel with its tile mural ('The Lovely Trains') designed by school children in the 90s. Its very grimy and there's spiderwebs all over the lights which I'm going to photograph one day.
⭐ I like the contrast of light and dark captured, as well as the reflection of the mural on the signs to the right.
➡️ I'm not totally happy with it but can't put my finder on what I'd change. Suggestions welcome!

8. Where to Look?
🧠 I sat at this window covered in fairy lights in the pub and knew I wanted to take some pics out of it. I tried having the fairy lights in focus and blurring the vehicles and people outside but I wasn't happy with any of those because the grime on the window showed up too much!
⭐ I like the accidental reflection of another patron adding to the layers of what's been captured.
➡️ More patience might have seen a better moving object blur. Maybe a cyclist would have been good!

🧠 This homework task was to create a story in pictures, having learned about photojournalism and documentary. I'm showing the result first - the picture that the tutor really liked technically but, 'I need a fork...' (for it to continue telling the story).
⭐ I enjoyed planning this shoot and especially like the blurring suggesting movement in a couple of pics.
➡️ Next time I photograph and dish, I'll remember the cutlery!
The tutor said the shot of ingredients laid out doesn't continue the story but I've kept it because I like it! It's also highlighted that Johnothon should be a hand model!
