Question for my fellow mobility-impaired #Choral #singers out there. I'm finding it harder and harder to stand for long periods, which I understand the point of as, for most people, standing is better when singing. Has anyone found a way around this? My thought is having a stool tall enough so I could sit on that and still be visible? For those of you out there who have kept performing with diminishing standing ability, how do you get around that? Thanks

Today is the start of Disability Pride Month, an annual observance that celebrates the history, achievements, and experiences of people with disabilities. This month coincides with the anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), which was signed into law in July 1990.

Happy Disability Pride Month. We Belong Here, And We’re Here To Stay!

Pandy is a couple of years older than her classmates due to childhood illness. She wonders how she can fit in, but being put on "foal watch" gives her purpose and perhaps even a new magical companion.

SO MUCH THIS. I need the railing to get up and down stairs.

Plain text of a tumblr post by zetablarian:
Something to add to the long list of things I wish able bodied people wouldn't do:

Please don't wrap decorations on the railings of stairways.

It's common practice for winter holidays, and a museum I visited today had fake autumn leaves wrapped around the metal railings running down their very steep steps.

Here's the thing: I can't safely go down steps without relying heavily on the handrail. This is ESPECIALLY true when the weather is cold and icy. If there's clutter between my hand and the rail, I'm way more likely to slip and fall.

Please save your festive decor for the architecture that isn't vital to the mobility of others.

I've been trying to build up my mobility for my upcoming trip to nyc for the New York City Film Festival. I walked almost 4k steps today. I'm very impressed with myself right now.
