Rather than removing obfuscation, providing an official modding API would be more helpful for Minecraft modders.
Right now we have too many modding APIs for Minecraft: Forge, NeoForge, Fabric, Quilt, etc.
The ecosystem fragmentation is too huge and I assume that this is stressing mod developers enough already.

To most people - this wouldn't mean a thing, at least in the near future.. but theoretically, this would unlock a lot more possibilities in the future, including the modding scene (which is already insane, as it is).

ICYMI: #Minecraft has been down for us #Xbox players for at least 10 hours today. The game updated for all of us in order to install a "hot fix" -- and since then, it won't load properly or at all for any of us. When I try to load the game, it shows me the "Mojang" screen with white letters on red, then flips back to Xbox loading screen.
*SIGH* Wasn't I saying just last night that I needed to make myself take a break from this game? 😫 #NotLikeThis!

I've been recovering my old #Minecraft server data to bring it back up - then I've been slowly making my way tryna upgrade it from version 1.16.3, to the latest stable release: 1.21.8.
Anyway, while I was doing so, I realised that in the newer versions, there was a setting to configure whether to configure whether or not to send telemetry data to #Mojang (a.k.a. #Microsoft)... or so you thought. That setting only exists to tell you that you ARE sending telemetry data to them, NOT for you to decide whether or not you even wish to do so. Happy to report that I found out that this telemetry is not anonymised either, and directly links to you.
Having this shit in a paid game (Minecraft isn't cheap either) is bizarre. Forcing scummy shit like this in a paid product really screams Microsoft, doesn't it? It's one thing if they do this on Minecraft #Bedrock edition - which is entirely Microsoft's, but to also do this in Java edition... is a big freaking yikes. I'm surprised I hadn't heard of this, I'm sure lots of people made noise of it when this happened ~4 years ago now.

#Hermitcraft season 10 is wrapping up, I can see from video titles. I'm still fond of those creators, and I wish them well.
#Microsoft, #XBOX Game Studios, #Mojang are all included as a priority boycott target by the #BDS movement. That doesn't have to include influencer content, although I do include #Minecraft videos.
It would be dishonest to suggest alternatives to Minecraft. If you can't boycott, you can still increase awareness and send support to Palestinians.

Some folks are working on a class action lawsuit against Microsoft because of people being locked out of playing the game they paid for, just because they didn't migrate their account in time. And because of constant updates to the terms and services without proper notice given to customers.
