I had a lovely walk this afternoon, so lucky to have this only a mile from where I grew up. Looking into the hills towards A’Chailleach, and the track I started on.

An upland landscape, looking towards A’Chailleach in the Monadhliath Mountains. On the left, a drystone walled enclosure with a single rowan tree, a faint track heads off into the distance on the right. The sky is blue with a few white clouds.

For #silentSunday here’s a new moon over the Monadhliath from earlier in the week

#Monadhliath #moon #blueHour

The Monadhliath Mountains silhouetted against the last glimmer of the setting sun. The foreground is very dark green, with bluish mountains behind. The sky fades from dusky blue to pale orange, and the new moon is visible at the top.

The forecast was for the least bad day in between two storm systems. In the event it was a real Goldilocks day: not too hot, not too cold, not too calm, not too windy, not too sunny, not too cloudy. A bit of mist covering the summits, but it cleared while we were there.

Meall na h-Aisre in the from . There's a lot of water on the ground, it was very boggy until we'd gained some height.

🧵 1/2.

A wooden bridge with stone supports crossing a stream which is in space, long exposure to blur the water. The ground either side is grassy with some rocks.Moray the dog sat next to me, can just see the bottom of my trouser legs and my boots. We are on a slightly sloping hill, the ground is grassy with pale green lichen. The hill top in the distance is slightly misty.Selfie, me and Motray the dog. We are sat next to a concrete pillar, the summit trig point. The hilltop is mostly grassy, there is a stony cairn next to the trig point. Blue sky and clouds.View from the summit. There is a concrete pillar trig point, and a bit of iron that looks like a broken fence post. The hill top is grassy with some boulders. In ther middle distance are about 20 wind turbines. Cloudy, with the mist down to the ground in the distance.

Day out with Moray yesterday in the Monadhliath (grey mountains) above Newtonmore in the Cairngorms National Park, Scotland.

- Glen Banchor.
- Loch Dubh.

- Easy walking on Càrn Bàn.

A river with stony bed running through a sloping valley. Hills at the back, a ruined house in the middle distance. Moray the dog stood looking into the view. Blue sky with clouds.Part of a lochan in a corrie with grassy and craggy sides, we are stood by the outflow stream, heathery vegetation in the foreground. Moray the dog looking at the view.Moray the dog stood by a summit cairn looking into a fairly deep valley which has boggy sections visible. Hills at the back in the haze.Moray the dog stood looking into the distance over a rolling hillside, a mixture of grass and rocks.

This gives perhaps a better idea of a lot of the terrain. Lots of peat bogs and groughs. But great to see the spring alpine flowers in abundance. Creeping azalea and Cloudberry.

Moray the dog stood on some grassy ground at the base of a peat grough.A very boggy peat grough surrounded by higher grassy ground.Close up of large patch of creeping azalea in flower. There is a bumblebee top right.A lot of small white cloudberry flowers on a sloping bit of ground, In a mixed heath.

2 day trek with overnight camp with Moray this past weekend.

to over the high ground of the , National Park, . Still hot and sunny at times, so lots of stops for rests and rehydration.

Lots of ups and downs, lots of peat bog and groughs, but some easy walking on great short vegetation.

Looking out of a tent doorway onto a grassy hillside, my trouser legs and boots visible. Moray the dog is sat outside, next to my rucksack and a camping stove boiling water.Moray the dog wearing his panniers, sat next to a small cairn on a hillside, the vegetation is short. More gentle hills into the distance.Selfie of me and Moray the dog, sat next to a cairn on a hillside with some rocks.Sit club. Moray the dog wearing his panniers sat next to my trouser legs and boots. We're on a grassy hillside whish rises gently into the distance.

Back to the Monadhliath today near Kingussie - A' Chailleach and Càrn Sgulain. Absolutely baltic, car reading -11 deg C. Snow was a double edged sword today - bit of a slog but made it bearable with views (just about). Munro no. 64 and 65.

@AeonMach @jbenjamint I’d agree with you about not pinning our hopes on #hydrogen. But I used to live in the Gt Glen and saw the scale of environmental damage done by early pumped storage schemes - #LochNess/#LochMhor at #Foyers. But not only the early ones! The #GlenDoe scheme above #FtAugustus flooded a massive basin of #peatland supporting. good breeding populations of rare waders …dunlin, golden plover & greenshank… in the #Monadhliath

#pumpedStorage not the answer.
